This is the third metal detector i have owned and this is my favorite one so far. It is easy to use. There are several good videos showing how to work the detector and show how the settings work. This is my first minelab detector and it’s a great unit. The LCD screen is really good and the red backlight is sharp. It also has a flashlight mode that help at night. The coil is a great all around coil and I will probably pick up a smaller one in the future to help narrow down on targets. This detector has very good Sensitivity and lots of options to customize to your dirt fishing needs. It’s may be a Little hard for beginners to pick up but there are lots of videos on there to learn about all the options. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to start metal detecting and even for the more seasoned diggers looking for a great machine with top notch performance at a budget price ... show more

I got this not knowing if I was going to like the hobby. It is a very capable machine and you will find lots of good stuff if you choose the right area to detect in. It's great that it's waterproof but it seems to really struggle on saltwater beaches, so I don't recommend this if you're going to be doing a lot of salt water beach detecting. If you're on dry or even wet grounds like parks, fields, playgrounds, or schools, It works really good. I love this detector because of how easy it is to use, with the pre-programmed settings you can switch from park to Forest to beach with a click of a button. I also love that it is waterproof so it’s a great detector to bring to the beach and do some underwater searching as well, the battery life is amazing. We have detected all day without having to recharge whenever we go on vacation we always take it with us. The kids love using it. It’s easy enough for them to use and we always have a lot of fun.
