  • Great filament, but know your use case

Yes, I've purchased ALL OF THEM. So that should tell you that I like the Mika 3D brand, and I do! The "shiny silk" colors are unique and gorgeous, and I'm proud to own them all. Heck, I even have them on display in my printing closet! The filaments don't jam and make smooth, beautiful prints that I love the look of. With that said, let's make sure you know your use case. "Shiny" colors work best on prints where the filament layers are working together and all oriented in the same direction--like statues and vases. For "busy" prints where the filaments have to be laid down at cross purposes to one another, matte colors are best because a shiny filament will reflect light every which way and can look garish or distracting. I've attached a video to demonstrate the difference between shiny and matter. (The matte white on the left is TIANSE and the shiny white on the right is Mika's Pearl White.) A note on color: There are two pinks in these bundles, but they are different. The pink in the champagne-pink-white set is a more traditional baby pink, while the rose gold in the pink-brown-black set has golden-brown undertones. Both are gorgeous and worth buying. In closing, I love this filament and will be buying it again; I'm about to make Mika my single source for filament purchases. The only thing I do not like is the vendor begs you repeatedly for reviews as soon as you hit the buy button. Give me a few weeks to whip up some prints, Mika! Chill out. ~ Ana Mardoll ---------- IMAGES: - Matte Vs Shiny video is on the Mika Pearl White. - Numbered markers are TIANSE matte white (left) and Mika Pearl White (right). - Lava platform is Mika Black Gold. - Status rings are Mika Gold ("frightened"), Emerald Green ("poisoned"), Pearl White ("blessed"), and Champagne Gold ("deafened"). ... show more

  • Shiny, clean finish. Prints very well.
I am still very new to 3DP and have limited experience with the various filament brands. A friend picked out this set of filament for a project based strictly on the color/finish. It was one of the first filaments that I've printed with but I am very happy with the results. Printing at the right temperature (220C) makes a noticeable difference in the print quality and final finish. I've printed nearly the entire half kilo of the silk silver and used some of the bronze and white. The white look great, the bronze is more green than I expected. I've printed many hours with the silver making parts for fly fishing reels and other things. Very few issues that weren't just problems with printer settings (z-offset, or temp settings, or cleaning the bed). I have not had any major issues with stringing or adhesion. I have already purchased more of this filament given how well it has been performing. I'm actually somewhat surprised by how well it's printed compared to some other non-silk filaments and have received several comments on the quality, especially considering that it's silk. One of the pictures is of the Maker's Muse tolerance gauge which is a challenge to print but came out well. All printed on a Creality CR6-SE. ... show more

  • Fits Flashforge Adventurer 3 series
These .5 kg spool fit exactly like the Flashforge spools without needing to use an external spool holder. Additionally, they print great! The colors are awesome, and on the aforementioned Adventurer 3, I get pretty good results with just the default PLA settings. For some very intricate prints with lots of potential stringing, I've had good luck turning the travel speed down very slightly, but otherwise these have been great. They even included samples of other colors in the 3-bundle pack. I only wish they offered more colors and packaged them individually and in various other bundles. The silk yellow/orange/green bundle was an easy buy for me, but some of the others start to include stuff I don't need or don't need any more of. Still, if you want a good quality option that drops right in to an Adventurer 3, these are good quality and cost effective. I will probably buy more from Mika3D in the future, especially if I'm looking for silk colors. ... show more

  • One of the better brands.

  • Frogman Approves
The adhesion was a bit sketchy in the beginning at 60c on my PEI bed, but a light coating with a glue stick fixed it immediately. The filament flows great on my Ender-3 S1 Pro w/ Klipper at 200/60c, .8mm retraction, and 45mm retraction speed. I printed out this 7” statue in 7 hours at .1mm layer height at 120mm/s. ... show more

  • Good Finish, Decent price, Good Quality
I've used the filaments from MIKA3D for sometime (about 2 years) and have had good results on 3 different 3D printers. I originally used it on my Creality Ender 3 V2 then on a Voxel AquilaX2 and now on my Bambu X1 Combo. I've had good results on all 3 printers and haven't noticed any real significant difference in the quality of the prints. I do use a glue stick on all my printers and have found that works best for me. I haven't tried to print without the glue so I can't say if it will work well without it. I will continue to purchase this brand of filament because the price is reasonable and I can purchase bundles in .5Kg spools and don't have to purchase 1kg spools, although 1kg spools are available. ... show more

  • Only good for small print job
Color: 250g X 6 Bright Colors Packed
I bough the shiny PLA from the same seller and that works great so I decided to buy another set of 6 in 1 Bundle (Yellow, Light Orange, Sky Blue, Sapphire Blue, Cyan ..). Unfortunately, the result is totally opposite from their shiny PLA. The color bundle PLA that I received is very brittle and always peel apart at the middle of the large print job, even with brim and high temp. I can only use them for small print task before they fall apart so would not recommend due to inconsistent qualify of different products. ... show more
