Perfect for my young and my old medium-sized dogs who love to eat! Be advised this Mighty Paw item does not have a suction cup bottom. (I bought a smaller dog lick bowl with suction and this one without suction so I could trial each with my two dogs). This non-suction bowl is bigger and has smaller and a variety of indentations, so it keeps my dog licking and occupied for a longer time period. I have used peanut butter and plain yogurt as well as some of their homemade food that I press into the bottom and sides of the bowl. They continue to lick for about 15 mins. I do pick them up from the floor after the 15 to 20 mins. Both dogs get excited when I bring out the lick bowls. This lick mat works perfectly to keep my dogs attention while I was grooming her. Particularly when I was clipping her nails. I used peanut butter or pumpkin purée on the mat. I later read that you can also freeze peanut butter or pumpkin purée onto the mat, which makes it last even longer. There are great ideas out there as to how to use a lick mat. ... show more

This is a great product but just make sure to measure your feeding bowls prior to purchasing. I figured even if there was a bit of a gap between the feeder and my pup’s bowl it wouldn’t be much of an issue. However, while he was licking and trying to get pieces of his food out, it was spilling over the edge into the gap. My dog seemed to really enjoy this toy. I covered each section with peanut butter and he couldn't stay away from it. I put it on the floor in the "flat" position, and will try the "wobbly" position next to see how he reacts. The cleaning was easy, I used hot water and dish detergent. I'm sure the dishwasher will work like a charm. The 4 stars for sturdiness and durability are due to the fact the toy arrived today and it's too soon to tell about its longevity. **Update** The company takes feedback seriously and offered us a full refund, that's a company that obviously makes an effort for customer satisfaction and we appreciate it. We will consider their other products because of this and recommend larger dogs try this product, at least you know you have a money-back guarantee! The bowl is sturdy although did wobble some, but the interior made it difficult for my small dog to get the food. We use wet food and it's great to slow them down but the grid design is tight and small and he got frustrated after awhile and I think his tongue got tired poor guy. It will slow a dog down or distract them for awhile but for regular feeding, it didn't work for us. ... show more

    • Slow feeding that is easy on the teeth

Our rescue mutt has one true love: kibble. He needs it in his belly ASAP. We got him a traditional slow feeder and instead of delicately working the puzzle, he just went ham and chose violence instead of problem solving. Our boy is not food aggressive, we can reach in any time and he will back off, but the amount of energy expended on getting that kibble out of the bowl and into his jaws is ridiculous. Imagine our suprise when we took him to the vet for a normal check up and all his canine teeth were chipped. What a dummy! We tried to use a snuffle mat and it definitely worked but it gets so disgusting after each use that we had to scrap that idea since we can't wash and dry the mat twice a day. Next I found this silicone slow feeder, and we gave that a shot. INSTANT success. Because the grooves are squishy, he will pause when he feels them instead of just powering through, meaning he is actually slowing down. It's super easy to rinse out or toss in the dishwasher. We don't use it inside another dog bowl because it's pretty sturdy as is. Our dolt of a dog, and his teeth, are very happy with the upgrade. ... show more

I smear peanut butter with a spatula...stick it to bay window, and trim nails and some grooming while he licks the pad. The tiny grid on pad can be washed with a veggie brush to get in crevices
