Each double unit Critter Nation comes equipped with two plastic ramps and ramp covers, two resting shelves and two easy to remove base pans for easy cleaning. We included full-width double doors that provide maximum accessibility for easy cleaning and feeding. The wide expansive shelf and full-width plastic pan floor provide a generous play area for your Dagu / Chinchilla / Rat and helps to prevent dangerous falls. Designed with customer convenience in mind, we've included "critter-proof" dual-locking door latches that provide a secure, easy one-handed operation. this cage is honestly the best. I run a rattery & a rescue for rats so I am constantly taking in rats, this cage allows me to keep all my genders in one cage all together instead of 20 small cages. All of the doors open up all the way and the plastic pan pulls out all for easy cleaning, now I took or the plastic pan and replaced the bottom with tile as I had fleece before and it looks amazing!! The shelves aren't those dumb plastic ones that clip to the sides that is so hard to level and unclip every time for cleaning, even though I dislike the texture of the smaller trays (makes it hard to sweep) I tolerate it. The second picture is my cage now and the first is when I first got it, the cage has been fully switched over to a all boys cage which currently holds 7 boys. I love this cage so much that once the price drops again I will be buying one for all of my girls! (They are currently in a feisty ferret cage that I got for free with 6 of my boys) The cage is so spacious, even for giant boys who needs lots of room, there is holes for the shelves to slide in on both sides so the shelves can go as high & as low as your liking but still have room for the rats to stretch out, I added more shelves on the opposite side to give it more levels for my boys and they just jump from the smaller shelves to the next. The smaller bar spacing is great for any rat all ages, and any animal! So if I ever lose my rats and decide to not get more I can get any other caged animal or moved my ferrets to it because it's big enough and they can't slide out. the price is so worth it, it's truly a heavy duty cage that will last a LONG time. it won't rust easily like others, the paint doesn't come off if you scrape it. And it's fairly easy to take care of and keep it in good shape as it is when you first put it together. I recommend this cage for any beginners in pocket pets as this is a good cage in the long run and no need for upgrading. Another bonus is that the ladder in the big middle level actually comes up and clips to a hook that separates the 2 levels and makes the cage into 2 parts! the middle level can also be taken out while building for it to be one big cage. ... show more

Double Check Before You Buy This I bought what was supposed to be a critter nation under this listing. It is called the critter nation (at least currently), and described as model 161/162, which is also the critter nation. However some of the questions and answers under the product refer to the ferret nation, and the pictures in the description and customer pictures are of both. I'm not sure if they use this listing for both and switch between them or what, but it makes things very confusing and they should fix it. I received the ferret nation instead, I couldn't exchange it from the seller since they didn't have the other in stock, so I had to send it back and reorder it for a higher price. I suppose I should have been a little suspicious because I had never seen the critter nation that cheap before... But the point is, whether you want the CN or the FN, as long as this listing is still confused with the pics and description, contact the seller and make sure you're getting the one you want before you buy it. As for the actual cage itself, it is a great cage. This is my second one, and I attached the two double cages side by side to make a quad. It is spacious and the design is decent. I would highly recommend it, but wait for it to be on sale. The CN is great for rats, the bar spacing is small enough that they can't get out and they are horizontal so it does allow climbing. The layout is made so you can hang things almost anywhere, and if you want to separate the top and bottom sections of the cage (either for cleaning or separating the animals) you can by hooking the ladder up. If you want the separated at all times you can also switch the top and bottom pans so the hole is covered. The wheels also make it easier to clean. It does have some flaws though. It can be hard to put together because the pieces don't always line up perfectly and you will need to hammer them into place. The new shelves are a bit uneven as well. The old shelf pans clipped under the shelf, and they were very nice but more difficult to clean. The new ones fixed that, they are much easier to clean and have a lip now, but they are not quite as secure and sometimes they sit on an angle, though it shouldn't cause any problems. And some people do not like that the cage doesn't have a pan for bedding/litter, however liners are much easier and if you really want you can buy pans that fit the bottom. I love this cage for my rats, but I'm not so happy with amazons listing at the moment, if they fix it I will change this. ... show more
