This product not only Clean's everything up , but made testing a breeze . At first I had thought maybe this would not be as waterproof as they say . I was WRONG ! Dumped a Gallon of water for testing purposes and it held great . I have 4 trailer's that will all have this now . Instructions were straight forward and easy to follow along with .     • More reliable than the OEM junction box on a 2018 Solitude.

My 2018 Solitude (bought used) had a standard indoor, 4x4x2" junction box above the 5th wheel pin for connecting the trailer cord to the trailer. Not waterproof certainly and the previous owner (I assume - I hope Grand Design did not do something this cheap :-( ) had done a terrible wiring/soldering job. This junction box is at least water resistant, there are screw terminals for each of the 7 pin cable wires. Just crimp on a ring connector and the color codes worked pretty well. BTW, this worked fine for 2000 miles in Feb 2024 but then I was getting errors to the brakes - the trailer brakes would shut off which made stopping the trailer "interesting". I did not find a obvious open in the brake line but in the driver wheel well on my Ram 3500, there is a plug connector and I wiggled it and pressed it together good and that seems to have solve the problem. One would think RAM would put better quality connectors in enriovnmentally dirty spots (like a wheel well), but apparently not. ... show more

Lots of reviews talking about incorrect writing, I can't really speak to that as I don't know what they received. I can tell you that on the one I received the color code matched the documents, and also matched the existing color codes on our travel trailer. I didn't have a terminal block on the trailer to start with, so my installation took quite a while. Make sure you have all the ring terminals you need before starting! During the install I really appreciated that they had color coded the terminal posts, that helped tremendously. Also really liked the spare plugs they included for the various openings, it gave a lot of flexibility to the install. Can't really say if it will be waterproof, but it is replacing a conduit box that was wide open, so it should be better! I don't have a lot of faith in waterproof boxes as I feel it is easy for water to get in and become trapped actually making it worse. I added a 1/8" hole at the bottom of the trailing edge to help with equalization and to drain anything that may accumulate. Overall very happy with the quality, will definitely buy again if I need a new plug/cord in the future. ... show more

My trailer stays outside and since the installation I have never had any issues with connections to lights or brakes. I am very happy with this purchase given it's fair price.     • Exactly what I was looking for to wire trailer brakes.

I let’s start with the important concern most will have regarding the quality. This feels great in hand, heavy duty, and UV quality sheathing to protect the wiring. As a former Master Technician and Engineer the past 30 years I can say without a doubt this is a quality product. This doesn’t come with full instructions, but I do. 1.) most of you will want an 8ft or shorter harness, and the box will be mounted up front. 2.) You may need to reuse your existing 4 wire for lights and add a duplex wire for the brakes, or you’ll need 6 wires approx 25ft long for a 17’ flat trailer. 3.) If starting with existing 4 wire than the Green is for the left turn signal and Yellow is for the right. 4.) The white wire is your ground and the brown wire is for your running lights. 5.) Unless you run backup lights or a 12v feature (center wire) you will only use 6 of the 7 wires. 6.) The color coding for the harness is slightly different than a 4 wire so you’ll connect the above colors according to the diagram provided. 7.) when wiring the trailer brakes you will connect one wire to white/black and the other wires to blue. So for a tandem axle you’ll have 8 wires going into 2. You probably want to run these in series and up one side of the trailer chassis. 8.) The white wire Is connected to chassis ground and the blue wire connects to the green In the box which is blue inside the vehicle to your PBC/TBC. Why these colors are not universal through idk. Might even vary on your application. Nothing complicated here. The worse part is getting on your back to wire underside of trailer if needed. Great product, Good Luck. ... show more
