This is exactly what my wife needed to keep her secure when entering our home through the garage. This will keep her stable as she steps up to open the door. I did find that the bolts do allow for some movement in the rail, but not enough to make it unsafe.

The product was well packed and the directions were clear. Very heavy metal. Got this for my older parent because he is very unsteady walking up steps of any kind. I bought 2. One for inside and another for outside. You must pre-drill the hole. I did pre-drill but the screws provide were easily stripped with the drill. I had to buy different mounting screw for it with the star shape head to avoid the striping. Other then that, once installed on a solid surface, it can handle the weight successfully. ... show more

Added this to our steps up to the front door. As my wife and I are in our later years it helps us get up the steps and into the house safely. It was a good buy, sturdy, and increases our safely getting up the steps.

We are senior citizens and needed some stability to hold onto to get up several stairs. Basically, we love the product. However, when we first installed it, the handrail was still wobbly where it attached with screws to the backplate. We took them to a welder, and he welded them solid so that when we attached them back to the wall, they are very solid and no wobble. ... show more
