  • Meepo V3 versus Meepo Mini – I own both
• Long versus Short - There is more to it with an eSkate. Most people are very likely to have a preference already but hear me out on this… Everything changes with sustained speeds over 20 mph. It gets downright sketchy pushing 30 mph. One must crank the trucks down incredibly tight, or else you will get a death wobble. The severe uncontrollable side-to-side motion at high speed is always going to happen unless (as instructed in huge font on the box) you tighten the trucks to match your weight and riding style. +1 for the Mini - You can turn the board by lifting the front wheels off the ground! With trucks cranked tight, you have now limited your ability to weight shift to turn. It effectively increases the board’s turning radius, which is a bit problematic when trying to make tight corners on sidewalks and such. The longboard V3 does not have a tail that extends past the rear truck. That means you can’t tip the front trucks off of the ground and point the nose in a different direction as one would typically do on a shortboard skateboard. +1 for the longboard V3 – The longer wheelbase on the V3 makes going fast so much more stable compared to the Mini. The V3 is far less twitchy and less prone to getting caught up on rocks and bad pavement at speed. The roominess that comes with length also makes carving the V3 so much easier. They are really long carves because the trucks are cranked down so much, but it’s seriously fun ripping back and forth going 25mph. It feels more stable changing direction at speed to avoid obstacles. It’s just the tight turning that’s difficult on the V3. • Battery life over distance. – I’ve done 10 mile rides on flat surfaces and still had charge left. I also noticed that the battery charges very quickly. I rode 3.5 miles just now to go get lunch, came back, plugged it in, and 14 minutes later, it’s at 100% again. • Build quality – Heavy and well built. This isn’t built like a toy. It’s also quite heavy, but there isn’t so much that can be done about that. You don’t notice the weight when you are riding it around. • The hand controller – I like the display, and it’s very intuitive. Sturdy as well as it’s been dropped a few times. KNOW THIS! - - > It’s a throttle, and it only moves about an inch forward and back (for braking). That means there is between zero and 28mph worth of thrust in that inch. DO NOT whisky throttle the thing, especially in the beginning. Move the throttle as slowly as you possibly can until you get the hang of it. This is for all eSkates, not just Meepo. Even experienced skateboarders will end up on their butt the first time unless you tell them to ease into it. • The Box – The box itself is worthy. I’ve kept it and usually store my board in it. It has a handy handle. I suppose if the cardboard or something wears out, I will use the dimensions and create a more permanent box since the foam insert that cradles the board in the box is super sweet. That foam will last forever, and if you want to travel with your board, you best hold onto it. • The tools – The tools are good, the T-tool is especially nice, but the sockets on it aren’t deep enough. Heavy people, like 200+, will need to crank the trucks down tighter than the T-tool will allow before it bottoms out. You can strip the nuts if you aren’t careful. You won’t be doing this very often, so it’s not a big deal, and it’s worth noting that the truck adjustment nut on the front is a different size than the adjustment nut on the back truck. • Remote battery charging cable – It comes with a cable that may not be obvious what it’s for. This cable is used when the battery is removed (or you have a spare). This adaptor allows you to plug the battery directly into the charger when the battery is not installed on the board. • The charger – Is like any other charger you have ever used. It’s about the same size and length as a typical laptop charger. It’s also very effective at charging batteries quickly. You will notice that it gets a little hot so keep that in mind. Best to keep it well exposed to the open air when charging. • Overall – Buying one of each size has been a terrific experience. I am keeping both. These boards are a hoot, and it’s even more fun when you bring a friend. ... show more

  • It’s so fun to ride!
Style: V5
I got this skateboard to be my main transportation at college and this is a great skateboard for it. It has great control and fun to go fast on good straight-aways. Great quality and has a pretty decent battery life. Great value for the price!

  • Almost Perfect: Design Flaw (Meepo V5)
Style: V5
Case: Potential Design Flaw in the Meepo V5 Summary: The back wheel of the Meepo V5/MINI5 broke after only 8 months of use, leading to the assumption that the design flaw of the board’s fragile wheel is partly responsible for the damage. The board is heavy, making it prone to being dropped, which stresses vulnerable parts of the board, such as the wheels. The lack of clear guidelines from the manufacturer regarding how to handle the board leads to a sense of intentional design, aimed at creating planned obsolescence through fragile parts. Key Points: 1. Board Weight & Fragility: The Meepo V5 is a heavy board, which naturally increases the likelihood of users dropping it or causing impact stress on parts like the back wheel. Given that the board’s design doesn’t sufficiently account for this, it becomes vulnerable to failure when dropped. 2. Unspecified Handling Warnings: Meepo doesn’t provide explicit warnings about handling the board with care or avoiding drops. While most users would assume any board may be subject to occasional drops, the lack of guidelines creates the impression that Meepo didn’t anticipate or design for these real-world conditions. 3. Purposeful Design or Oversight? The fragility of the back wheel, combined with the high cost of replacement parts like the motor kit (at $170), raises suspicions that the board’s design is a deliberate choice to create a cycle of frequent part replacements. This could be seen as a form of planned obsolescence, where components are intentionally weak to drive ongoing sales of replacement parts. 4. Safety Risk: Given that the back wheel snapped off while riding, the board’s safety could be compromised, especially for riders who may not expect such failures. A heavier board that’s prone to being dropped should have stronger parts to account for the physical stresses it will naturally endure during use. 5. Consumer Frustration: The combination of a high replacement cost for a flawed design, coupled with the lack of proper warnings, leads to consumer dissatisfaction. Riders are left to pay for the consequences of a design that doesn’t account for the real-life handling challenges of a heavy electric skateboard. Conclusion: The back wheel failure in the Meepo V5 is a combination of design flaws and misaligned expectations between the manufacturer and the consumer. The design of the back wheel appears deliberately fragile, leading to a situation where riders who might unintentionally drop the board are faced with expensive replacement costs. There is an argument that Meepo’s design choices and lack of explicit handling warnings have contributed to this issue, making it feel like a case of planned obsolescence. Suggested Actions: • Meepo should either redesign the vulnerable parts of the board or issue clear handling guidelines to help avoid accidental damage. • Consumers should be aware that this design flaw may result in frequent replacements and higher costs. ... show more
