My doctor recommended this Medify purifier for my small home office (about 500 square feet) to replace a larger one that I had for about five years. I'm a light pipe smoker and I keep my windows open when temps allow. I run it for about 6 to 8 hours a day, and it's far more effective than my last one (a more expensive big-name brand). It's quiet, powerful, and judging from the first electric bill, very energy-efficient. I removes tiny dust particles and mild tobacco odors better than I expected, and it also pulls in pet dander and tiny hairs that might float about. It's much smaller than my last one, so takes up little space. I vacuum vents about once a week and the filters are very easy to change. I'll likely by another one for the den. I've been sort of skeptical about HEPA filters but rolled the dice with this one and I'm pleasantly surprised. My apartment has a lot of lint and junk floating around that I've been fighting for years leaving that lovely gray layer on every horizontal surface. I've been running this unit mostly at night but sometimes during the day also because it's quiet and I can definitely say it has cleaned up the stuff floating through the air being recirculated all the time and I do not have that gross layer of gray lint on everything anymore. ... show more

Compared to my old air cleaner these are way quieter. They perform very well for removing odors but not so well at the dust. My old air cleaner catches so much dust and dog hair that I have to clean the filters weekly as they get completely plugged. These new air cleaner took a month before I needed to get the dust off and they caught no dog hairs. My old air cleaner is a Holmes and is a beast at catching the dust and hairs but really fails at odors and is extremely noisy. These new ones are great for odors and have excellent air circulation but for some reason just don't do the dust ... show more

I used it right away and found everything to my satisfaction. The noice level is hardly noticeable up to second fan speed. Even at full fan speed ( level 3) it is not that bad at all. The timer works beautifully and the machine shuts off automatically at the preset time. Most importantly, it really clean the air especially cleaning up the cooking smell from the kitchen. This is such a good purifier, my boyfriend can’t stand loud fans at night and I on the other hand need that white noise. We have a king bed and from his side you can’t even hear the first level and that is so perfect!!!! I’ll turn it on full blast when I’m out and turn off or just turn down for later. The dim feature is so cool! What else can I say I think this is a very smart purchase and the filter refills are much cheaper that other brands. We have one downstairs and one upstairs and they both work great. Timer works great. I turn it on for 2, 4,6 or 8 hours and it shuts off automatically. Which works for me. On the high mode it is a little noisy but still OK. On medium and low very quite and convenient.
