It the perfect size for a small space, but still big enough for plenty of scratching for my cat. It was quick to put together and very sturdy! I buy my cat one every year for Christmas and it lasts the whole year. Very stabile never tips or moves. It is as tall as my couch and perfect for my 3 year old cat. Can’t beat the price for a whole year. Great value. It blends in and looks very nice.

My cat is very, very, very obsessed with clawing up door frames, and I came to the conclusion that she was wanting to scratch something in my hallway (she has cat trees with tall scratchers by windows, but none in the hall) where she could get a nice full body stretch, and the two scratching posts nearby were both too short for that. I’m happy to announce that this scratching post (I got the tallest size) does reach the height of the destruction on the doorframe, and while she hasn’t entirely stopped scratching the doorframes, she does sometimes choose to go for this scratching post instead. Here’s to hoping that will keep increasing over time! Generally speaking, the fabric parts are soft, the ropey material is fine, and it was really quick and easy to put together - took less than five minutes. My cat doesn’t care about the ball on the spring, but I’m sure some cats would like it. I did have to cut off the elastic string and ball on the top, though, because my kitty likes to chew through elastic, and I didn’t want her breaking it off and eating the elastic while I was gone. Something to be aware of if you have a cat as silly about elastic as me! I haven’t tried attaching the little brush/scratchy pad because I just wanted to get it quickly put together for my kitty, but it’s nice that it’s an option and I might add it on later. I fully plan on getting another one of these whenever this one needs replacing or if I move to a bigger place with more doorframes to try to protect! ... show more

    • Cats love it but wears down fast

I have ordered two of these scratching posts so far and while I have been only moderately happy with them, my cats could not love them more. I have one down-scratching cat and one up-scratching cat, so I bought the first post for the up-scratcher. She took to it immediately and beat the absolute tar out of it over the course of about 9 months. By the time I replaced it, the post was at least a quarter exposed and shredded paper tube, and the remaining jute was entirely frayed and shedding. The second scratching post came with a plastic self-grooming attachment that hadn’t come with the first. I did not expect the cats to use the groomer but attached it anyway, and it turned out that the down-scratching cat had a void that only a self-grooming attachment could fill. He instantly converted to being an up-scratcher so he could spend more time close to his beloved self-groomer. The previously down-scratching cat is a hulking, dog-sized beast with thick, muscly arms, and he is utterly demolishing the second post. I can’t imagine we will get more than four to five months worth of use out of this one before it disintegrates. Overall, I like the look of the post and I am tempted to keep replacing it just to keep the cats happy, but suspect I will need to bite the bullet and upgrade to a better post for the next round. Five stars+++ from the cats, three stars from me averages to a four star product. **Updating that the huge cat destroyed the scratching post within about two weeks of leaving this review. I invested in a higher quality scratching post, and while the cats have only tepid to mildly warm feelings toward it, the post is still intact. ... show more

I recently purchased the MECOOL Cat Scratching Post, and while the quality is impressive, it hasn’t quite captivated my cat as much as I’d hoped. Pros: Great Build Quality: The materials feel durable and well-made. The sisal scratching surface looks like it’ll last a long time, even with regular use. Sturdy and Stable: Once assembled, the post feels very sturdy and doesn’t wobble, which is great for heavier cats or active scratching sessions. Easy Assembly: Putting it together was straightforward and quick, so it was ready for my cat in no time. Cons: Cat Isn’t Very Interested: Unfortunately, my cat doesn’t use it as often as I’d hoped. She’ll occasionally give it a scratch or play with the hanging ball, but it’s not her go-to scratcher. Overall: The MECOOL Cat Scratching Post is a well-built, sturdy product and could be perfect for cats who love sisal scratching posts.
