  • Loud! Perfect
Color: White
You gotta love a good mechanical metronome. Everyone needs a good mechanical metronome. This is a good mechanical metronome. It’s wonderful. There’s really nothing new in the world of mechanical metronome design. The important stuff is that it makes the right sounds, keeps time, and stows securely. I really like how this one stows securely because these things can be fragile if the arm thing is left loose and the device is bounced around. You can spend more on a mechanical metronome, but you really won’t get more for your money. This thing is excellent. ... show more

  • No more notifications interrupting!
Color: Black
I have used countless metronome applications on my phone, and as nice as they are I wanted something completely disconnected from my phone. I have used mechanical metronomes in the past and this one works well. Winding it is simple and lasts about 20 minutes which is a good amount of time for practice. The cover and pendulum lock function well and while the metronome looks nice, the plastic does feel a bit cheap but it projects a crisp and distinct sound when practicing. The ticks are nice and loud, with the chime being adjustable. It works for most beats but I’ll have to stick to my phone for more complex beats. ... show more

  • not accurate beat to beat
Color: Black
This is a nice looking metronome. It has a plastic exterior with metal mechanics. A mainspring that you wind provides the movement so no batteries are needed. I did not see a way to change the overall volume but there is a way to accent every 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 6th beat (or not at all). That is a nice feature. There is a plug insert for the bottom to help protect the metronome from damage during shipment. I compared the accuracy of this metronome against several apps on my phone and detected a slight difference in tempo. I built a circuit to measure the time between beats. This found that one beat is actually slower than the set tempo and the other is slightly faster than the set tempo. For example, if the tempo is set to 60 BPM, one beat is about 56 BPM and the other beat is about 64BPM for an average 60 BPM. Similar tempo differences were noted when I test 90, 120 and 144 BPM. My testing was done with the mainspring fully wound. I did not test again as the mainspring winds down. So if you just want to display the metronome, this is great for that. However since there is a tempo difference between the beats, I can not recommend this as a practice tool. Get an app that is more accurate and provides more features. ... show more

  • I feel so sophisticated :P
Color: White
I've always thought mechanical metronomes were neat, and now I finally have one. The color on the site is quite close; it's more of a pearly white than a stark bright white. It's definitely loud, you can practice with this in confidence of hearing it. It keeps time well, too, and is pretty accurate. The cover is a nice touch, to keep dust out of the mechanism. Definitely a cool product, I like it a lot :) ... show more

  • Nostalgic and works well
Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. This is a plastic version of a traditional wooden metronome. It has a solid, consistent ticking sound. I really like that it winds up and doesn’t require electricity. The timing is simple to set on the front and the side. Overall, this works well, is lightweight, and stays consistent. It’s a lot simpler to use than opening another app to practice with my instruments. ... show more

  • Functions exactly as it should
Color: Black
It's a mechanical metronome and as such performs flawlessly and at the price is a pretty good deal. Very useful to help keep time on slow drum takes

  • It's loud and works great
Color: Black
In general it's what you expect from a mechanical metronome. The weighted pendulum works as expected. The winding is solid. I especially like the selective chime on specified beats. From a distance it looks okay as well. The one point off is for the cheap plastic case. It just looks and sounds cheap and hollow. I miss the old wooden version of this device with the warm clicking sound. I know you can still get them and you pay for that material. This is a compromise. Still a great traditional metronome if that's all you need. ... show more
