  • Keeps bugs out.
Hoops are easy to put together and stores easy. Screen is thin and will only last a year.

  • They do the job mostly
We started our first ever raised bed garden and we had a cold front coming through. I bought these to hold up a cover over one of the garden beds, since my plants are still young. They’re essentially sticks that you connect together - you NEED to connect 4 or more sticks for them to bend. The stick itself doesn’t bend all that much. It’s fairly easy to connect but it gets a little trickier when you put it in the ground. Having a barrier of sorts (like a raised garden bed) is a great help so the ends are kept closer together and the connected stick stays bent. Having said that, they might lean once you get them bent. For our 4x6 foot beds, we used around 5 sticks for each one to go above the tomato plants. The super lightweight cloth made one lean over, though it didn’t fall, so there’s that. By morning, 2 were leaning over due to the wind, but neither fell over completely, but one stick did pop out straight on one end. The other end was still stuck in the ground; only the weight of the fabric with the fasteners was keeping it down. Overall, it’s okay. Better than nothing, but not great, either. I don’t regret the purchase as it’s cheaper than some other alternatives. Plus, it was hard finding something that fit our garden beds so I like how you can customize these without paying a small fortune. We also have 2x10 foot beds, though those were empty at the time. If I were more seasoned at gardening and see myself doing this for years, I’d look into something more sturdy/permanent and reliable. ... show more

  • Very pleased!!
Highly recommend, and I'll be purchasing more. I've been using these since late October, on beds that are around 3ft wide. First with just frost cloth, worked great. This weekend we were expecting temps near 0 and high winds. I added canvas drop cloths and heavy plastic over the frost cloth, wondering if the hoops would bend or lay down under the weight and wind. They did not, held all that up as well as some ice and snow weight the 3rd day! For heavy snow I'm sure they would need support down the center. Fairly easy to assemble after a short learning curve. If you stick the 1st rod vertically in the ground where you want it, add coupler and next rod etc, THEN put tension on it to hold together as you bend to stick the other end into the ground. If you let go or let up on the tension, pieces will go flying! So it would be a bit easier if the rods fit tightly into the couplers. The plastic clips included won't clip on with anything heavier than the frost fabric, and even then it's hard to push them on. I just weighted the cloth around the edges instead. I did successfully use those clips to fasten frost fabric to cattle panels though, so not totally useless. ... show more

  • Parts everywhere!
Material Type: M (for 2.5'-3.5' wide) Style: 50pcs
This is my first time doing row covers so it may be partial operator error. I set them all up and they looked beautiful. I weighed down the edges of the fabric, had a nice arch with the hoops, and made sure they were nice and secure in the ground. We got a slight wind and they started popping up. This is not the issue I have with the product. The problem is that when they pop up the pieces fly everywhere. I have had to fix the rows three times and every time I am on the hunt for all of the pieces. Not only that but the remaining pieces have punctured through my covers. So I have a big mess. I am removing all of these and switching to the rebar PVC pipe method ASAP!! A one piece system seems way sturdier and less of a hassle. I wanted to like this. ... show more

  • Works as described
Material Type: L (for 3.5' or wider) Style: 50pcs
Bought this to create a cover over our garden beds this winter. It was easy to assemble but it does take two people to bend it into an arc safely. Be careful and don’t arc it beyond it capability or it will spring out and fly all over the place. We lost one into the neighbors yard and one on the roof while installing it. These are not meant for tall plants but worked well with our winter lettuce. ... show more

  • Easily break when a little weight is applied
These work great if you don't have any wildlife (or roaming domestic) that think they can land on, or sit on them; then they just snap like twigs. I used these along with a garden blanket to protect my seedlings from early spring over-night temp drops. Unfortunately, the birds kept landing on the loops and breaking them. Cats also jump from the fence to the floating covers causing both the loops to break and cover to tear. I'm a bit disappointed them break so easily (under the weight of the birds). ... show more

  • Buyer Beware
The description says that this item "comes with 50 large-diameter hoops." It does not. The 50-piece option will not give you 50 "greenhouse hoops." It will give you 50 17-inch sections. No greenhouse hoop can be made with less than 3 sections (or they will break [note: it may actually break with 3, it suggests 4 per hoop]). Plan for 4 sections per hoop. The 50-piece version will give you 12 hoops. The 25-piece option will give you 6 greenhouse hoops. That's quite a difference from the "50 large-diameter greenhouse hoops" it promises. The fiberglass sections are hard and pretty inflexible. They bend only the tiniest bit. I will be careful and gentle with them. ... show more
