I have 2 Ring doorbeells I've had installed for almost a couple years now - they've always been fine with the voltage supplied by the doorbell transformer. I was surprised to be getting numerous notifications that both doorbells had under 10% battery remaining. The doorbells and chime still worked fine, but I just automatically assumed that maybe the transformer was on its way out (1987 home, probably original) so I looked for a higher VA version and settled on this one. For me, the transformer is installed in the bottom of the main electrical panel, so access was easy. After taking the cover off I was surprised to see that my existing transformer had 3 different wiring configurations and it just so happened to be set on the lowest voltage and power. That is, I probably could have just rewired the existing one. Nevertheless, for $25 or whatever I just installed the new one. I was surprised that instead of a 24V output, it was closer to 28V. What was odd is that it took a couple days or so of being on for the doorbells to start to recharge, but now it all works fine. No noticeable hum anywhere, chime still works, etc. So time will tell, but this appears to have been a good buy. ... show more

Nice upgrade from my underpowered transformer. My WiFi doorbell works great now. I don’t know much about electricity and I was able to do the installation without help even though my input wires had a different color wires I guided myself with the old transformer and the swap was a breeze. I feel like a professional electrician now lol ... show more

  • Perfect for Smart Doorbell

We upgraded the original 10VA transformer to a 30VA version. It powered the new Ubiquiti doorbell just fine. But the mechanical chime wouldn't work. Plus, it only BARELY put out the rated 16V. Found this version (24v/40VA) and made the swap. Powers the doorbell and the chime perfectly. Don't make the mistake we did - go for the bigger 24V/40VA version from the get go. ... show more

  • Works with google nest doorbell

Had issues with an older doorbell transformer original to the house. Around 50 years old. It would only work a few minutes through the day. Installed this and I have had no issues anymore and works great.

  • RING DEVICE USERS BEWARE!
Number of Items: 1
I recently purchased a wired RING DOORBELL PLUS and the specs say it can handle up to 24V. I purchased this transformer thinking that the max output would be 24V but it’s putting out closer to 27! This over-voltage caused my ring doorbell to run very hot and not be able to operate correctly. The ring doorbell overheats and shuts itself off. The title for this transformer should be changed to 27V instead of 24V. ... show more

  • Plenty Of Power With Headroom To Spare
Number of Items: 1
I own a house that was built in 1950 and I do know that the doorbell that was originally on the house was installed after the house was built. I do not know why who originally installed the original transformer and doorbell system in my house the way they did but the power going from the transformer to the front doorbell switch has to have at least 75 to 90 ft of wire ran from it. I recently upgraded my doorbell system to the Nest Hello doorbell and I honestly thought there would be enough power from the original transformer. It turns out there was not enough power and I had to get something that had a bit stronger output. I searched the web for suggestions on what transformer would be good to work with my Nest Hello doorbell and a link with directed to Amazon for this transformer. Installation was very easily done where this transformer comes with typical wiring. A hot, a neutral, and a ground wire. Wired up the transformer to the AC power that was in place and then wired up the doorbell to this transformer. I put a voltmeter on the connections and I was getting anywhere between 28.3 to 28.7 volts output. I go over to where my doorbell switch is located and I was getting about 25.5 volts. When all said and done this transformer absolutely met my needs to set up a modernized doorbell system in my house. The construction of this transformer is very sturdy and it looks like it's well built. I also like that it is UL listed and it gives me peace of mind that something like this is not going to go on fire and cause damage to my house. Overall I think this was a solid purchase and I would highly recommend. ... show more
