Description

The Quad Computer has mirrored button function during dive, option to view dive time including seconds and a runaway decompression alarm. This multi-gas capable computer has a decompression dive planner with user adjustable surface interval and a long battery life, with a user replaceable CR2450 battery. The Mares Quad Dive Computer is ready to grow with you, with software upgradeability. Keep your dive computer up-to-date with the latest Mares developments. Segment display, provides needle-sharp information combined with intelligent placement of information for easiest readability. A mineral glass display tempered glass with superior scratch resistance and improved readability in all diving conditions and viewing angles. Gas switching, setting the computer to include one or more oxygen enriched - gases (up to 99%) in addition to your main gas; allow you to benefit from shorter decompression times by switching gases during the dive. Computer has a maximum depth display of 492' (150 meters), a memory capacity of 38 hours, can be set for imperial or metric units of measure, fresh or saltwater diving environments. The Quad Computer features a stopwatch, power indicator and a plan mode functions.

Though I am an amateur diver, I chose a great computer. Unfortunately, Mares could have made some improvements on the computer. On my first dive, we surfaced a couple of times. The log screen shows the first dive as #2 and the second dive as #1. So if you surfaced 4 times within a dive, the first underwater record would show as #4, the second underwater record as #3 and so on. It's almost reading the log backward. The other issues I had was the back screen to light up. You can only light it up at the main screen which really sucks when you're under water. The best parts of the computer is the display and the battery replacement. The display shows large numbered display. The Mares Quad you can replace the battery yourself. My husband had a different brand of dive computer and he recently had to replace the battery and in order to do that, he had to send it in and would cost him $75. My husband now wants a Mares Quad himself. It came with a manual that explaines everything owners need to know about all the features on the device. I need a larger face because my eyesight isn’t what it used to be. This was what I needed. The large screen makes it easy to see my bottom time and let’s me know when it’s time to come up. I use it simply for a bottom timer for timing deco stops. I dive 300 fsw +. It works well but was a bit pricey for what I needed it for. Hoping it lasts a long time. I ditched the strap for two separate bungee cords. I don't trust the single buckle straps. Any part of it fails and you've lost your computer. So I like the computer as a timer. When it comes to the bottom timer (BT) function it is not mentioned in the user mamual, other than the function exists. I had to go online to find the more detailed instructions on how to activate and reset the BT, and even that info was spartan, like an afterthought. I like that the number digits are big, but the actual BT letters when the bottom timer is active are quite small. I would rather they were bigger as reassurance for my aging eyes. I have a more sophisticated computer (Shearwater multi gas with big bright color coded fonts) for managing my gasses. I've not used the Quad as a nitrox or air computer yet. I like that the screen fonts are large and easy to see. ... show more

I've used several lower end computers, and this far exceeds them. It handles well deep and on night dives. Pros: 1. Face is large and sectioned clearly organized. 2. Buttons and menus are great. I learned how to navigate the menus in less than 5 minutes. 3. Doesn't feel bulky or awkward to wear like I was worried about. Cons: 1. The black faceplate is a shiny plastic that scratches easily. The screen is almost flush with the faceplate and doesn't have a scratch guard, so I would try to avoid scratching it. 2. The screen is difficult to see at angles; you really have to rotate your wrist or the computer to look directly at it. ... show more

Can't believe how terrible the user documentation is, which was not included in box. Basic info of how to clear dive info, change settings, explanation of display layouts, slow down display changes so you can read them before they change again. Completely lacking in any real user documentation. Maybe if you worked for the company and built this you might understand how to use it. but when you can't figure things out with the manual it's not that great. Sure i can figure out a couple basic functions on the display but again documentation does this dive computer a major disservice. ... show more

Great dive computer! Screen size and clarity is great for visibility at 100ft. Dove the Vandenburg off Key West and the computer worked flawlessly. Love tgw detailed log of each dive. My only complaint is the instruction nanual. Little hard to find certain things.
