  • Buy it. Absolutely worth the price.
Color: Black/Green
I am an active person in normal times- I walk a ton and am a frequent gym-goer. But quarantine has thrown a wrench into all that. I could do resistance exercises and weights on my own, but getting the active cardio I wanted was more difficult, since I have a tendonitis issue that running aggravates. Enter the idea of buying a spin bike. I'm a Soulcycle fan, so I knew I would enjoy having one, but I wasn't about to lay down two grand for a Peloton. I hunted for mid-range bikes from companies I trust, like Schwinn, but apparently I was not the only one to have this bright idea during self-isolation and they were all gone. I really wrestled with the decision to buy a budget bike from a lesser known company, since it seems like a difficult thing to return, but now I'm so glad I went with this Marcy bike. My husband and I have used it every day since receiving it almost a month ago and so far, so good! First, the few cons: -If you're taller than 5'8", this might not be the bike for you. There is no horizontal adjustment on the handlebars and the footprint is quite small, so your knee to handlebar distance could be problematic. There also isn't a ton of height available in the seat or handlebar vertical locks. I use the seat at the highest available setting. That said, every body is different and this is mainly speculation, as I'm 5'4" with long legs and my husband is 5'7" and it's fine for us. -Sometimes when I'm really tapping it back in my workout I feel a little play in the floor connection at the handlebar end. Nothing that feels dangerous, just a bit of movement between the bike and the floor. -Maybe a con for some: the bike seat is wide and very padded. If you're used to a lower profile seat, you might not love this one. I'm an avid rider and it doesn't really bother me. I actually canceled the gel seat cover I ordered for my husband because this seat is so cushy. Pros: -GREAT VALUE. This bike is absolutely worth every penny and then some. Sure, it's more old school chain-driven with felt resistance, but it's quiet and in good working order. -Easy assembly. Had it together in a few minutes. -It looks good! So many other budget spin bikes on here look "budget". This one is sleek. -It has a small footprint. I believe it's only about 41" long. We placed it in front of a guest room window next to a closet we frequently use and it doesn't feel cumbersome at all. -Cushy seat! For those new to spinning, or just not a fan of "bike bruise", this seat has you covered. It's different than the Amazon photos. Check out my pics for reference. -Easy to move. On nice days, we sometimes wheel it it outside to the deck. Get the right tilt angle and the wheels are your friends. Some tips: The assembly instructions we got came with an extra page that was an added step: a sort of revision. Make sure you include that step in assembly. It has to do with pedal safety. This bike has only "basket" style pedals- no clips. An easy thing to switch if you prefer to clip in. Also, this bike has no accessories. No phone holder or rpm meter. These are easy to add on if you wish. I prefer rhythm rides so it doesn't faze me. You'll see in pics, we just use a towel across the handlebars for our phones. There are plenty of clip on holder options out there. Pics are from before we received our Sunny Fitness bike mat to place underneath. Now it's there and works great. OVERALL: I am beyond pleased with this purchase. It's keeping my husband and I fit and sane during quarantine. 100% recommend! UPDATE: 2 and a half years later and it's still going strong and looks great! We use it almost every day. So great to have in the winter months! ... show more

  • works well and good value
Color: Black/Green
I was able to assemble it by following the directions. I did make sure that bolts were tight since this is a fast moving bike. My niece said this looks just like the bikes and her spin class! It's great exercise because you get good cardio. The bike moves fast specially comparison to the previous Mary Bike we have! ... show more

  • Olympic Bronze medalist
Color: Black/Yellow
I am a triathlete, ride 60 to 90 minutes, standing, 5 days a week. I see this bike as a provincial athlete who came out of nowhere to win Olympic bronze against elite athletes. The bike is far superior to any bike in its price range and has to be compared with the very best stationary bikes that cost (over $1,299) against whom it is very competitive (though weaker in some categories). I rate its features individually below: Attractiveness - The bike has nice aesthetic design and is very attractive with aero style handlebars. I chose a yellow color which extends to its 40 lb flywheel. Rating 5 Ride features Pros: The seat can be raised to 44 inches which is important for elite athletes doing long rides as you typically want the seat higher than the handle bars. The arm rests on the handle bars are also useful for some riders though I don’t use them and they can be removed. The handle bars are also adjustable both vertically and horizontally. The ride is smooth and fairly quiet. It is rated for 300 lbs, which is important as one applies about that much force when pedaling standing for long periods against resistance. Cons: You’ll need a torque wrench to tighten the handle bars and the seat so they don’t wobble. The seat could use some cushioning and reshaping as it is very uncomfortable, even painful, though I sit for only a few minutes and only at the start of my ride. Rating 4 Finish: This is where this bike loses to the pricier competition. The joints where the handle bar are soldered are clearly visible (how much would it have cost to cover these with rubber?). Even the Marcy Pro label is not engraved on the bike but is just a cellophane sticker that comes off in no time. The left pedal has some silver colored bolts against black bolts (would it have been too expensive to color this black also?) and sticks out about ¼ of an inch more than the right pedal. When I assembled the bike, the threading on the right pedal arm was worn and would not fit in the groove. They shipped a replacement overnight. The drive belt frayed after 2 rides and the pedal itself broke, though they also replaced both parts rather quickly. The bike cup holder keeps coming off. So quality control, and a lot of the detail that makes an elite bike are missing. If the manufacture can attend to these, even if it increases the bike price by say $100, it would make the bike truly elite. Rating 2 Customer Service: Superb customer service. I had 2 problems with the right pedal and the drive belt. They not only sent replacements quickly at no cost but asked if I wanted a replacement for the entire bike frame!! They also included links to installation videos for replacing the drive belt and links to the correct crank extractor which I had to purchase ($7.59) to replace the defective pedal crank. Rating 5. The bike is extraordinary value for money especially for serious riders and so far, rides as smoothly as the gym spinning bikes I used before the pandemic. I have had it for under 3 months and will update this review if it proves robust -- or fails -- over the next few months. ... show more
