  • Exactly the same as brand name. Great product. Great price.
Size: 270 Count (Pack of 4) Configuration: Diaper Pail Refills Only
I have the Playtex Diaper Genie Elite for our diaper pail system in the nursery. Introduction: I normally use Playtex diaper genie refill bags or the Up&Up refills but the Mama Bear Refill bags were a great price so I thought I’d try them. They are just as good, if not better (because of the price) than the brand name Playtex bag refills. Fit and Setup: The Mama Bear refills work exactly like the Playtex ones. You remove the plastic ring on the top of the product and then find the end of the bag and pull it upward and then through the ring and tie the bottom of bag (see photos of unopened ring and side by side top of Mama Bear/Playtex). I literally found no difference in setting up the Mama Bear ring and the Playtex. I also found that the ring fit exactly the same as the Playtex (see photo of Mama Bear ring inside the Diaper Genie). *Both Mama Bear and Playtex were equally matched on fit and setup. Quality: Both Mama Bear and Playtex have 7 layers of protection and fit up to 270 diapers in each refill ring. The feel and sturdiness of both Mama Bear and Playtex are the same. The tough/feel/sight/smell of the two products are to my eyes and fingers EXACTLY the same (see photo of opened products in my fingers). I haven’t seen any difference the Mama Bear and Playtex in being able to hold a full allot of diapers (no rips or strain). *Both Mama Bear and Playtex are the same quality. Packaging: Both Mama Bear and Playtex look exactly the same - same color, same markings, same shape, size, seemingly the same weight. If you were to remove the side label on the Mama Bear and Playtex refills I would not have the ability to know which was which (see the photo comparisons). *Both Mama Bear and Playtex have the same package and product (only difference is the label on the outside). Note: I did not compare the Up&Up (Target) version of diaper pail refills, but those are seemingly subpar to both Mama Bear and Playtex. The Up&Up are flimsier, and the ring on the outside isn’t as sturdy. I would not recommend them given the fact that Mama Bear is a superior product and the same price. Photos: Diaper genie pail and mama bear refill bags, unopened Mama Bear fill, opened and tied comparison of Mama Bear (left) and Playtex (right), bag quality comparison of Mama Bear (left) and Playtex (right), bottom of both Mama Bear (left) and Playtex (right), side view of refills Mama Bear (left) and Playtex (right), and finally Mama Bear refills inside Diaper Genie. Overall: I found Mama Bear and Playtex diaper pail refills to be almost exactly the same so if the Mama Bear brand is less expensive I will absolutely continue to buy them. I love that Amazon has gotten in on the “Generic” or rather “Store Brand” alternatives allowing for a more affordable product with the same quality. ***please let me know if my review was helpful by clickling the “helpful” button below*** ... show more

  • These are made by Playtex, just under a different brand. Better value and same quality.
Size: 270 Count (Pack of 4) Configuration: Diaper Pail Refills Only
These generic "Mama Bear" brand Diaper Genie refills appear to be manufactured by Playtex, just like the OEM Playtex brand Diaper Genie refills. I bought these to replace the original Playtex branded ones I currently have installed. I noticed a few things. Both are distributed by or trademarks of Edgewell Personal Care Brands LLC (the parent company of Playtex, Schick, Wet Ones and many others). Both are produced in Canada. Also, the shipping label on the box they came in were shipped from Playtex/Schick. My summation is that these are the EXACT same Diaper Genie refills as the OEM Playtex brand ones, however they were manufactured under the Mama Bear brand name to be sold in bulk as a generic or off brand. They offer the same exact feel, packaging and quality as the original branded ones, but you get 4 in a box and they are slightly less expensive. ... show more

  • Every bit as good as the name brand they're cloned from.
Size: 270 Count (Pack of 8) Configuration: Diaper Pail Refills Only
I read a lot of reviews here before buying these. Some people said they tended to rip easily, others said they didn't contain the smell. I bought them anyway because they were half the price and let's be honest for a minute shall we? If you have a baby, things get broken, things smell.. it just happens. I used the "name brand" refills for about a year and a half. I broke the actual diaper genie. I fixed the actual diaper genie. I know its workings inside and out. I would honestly be very surprised if you told me these weren't made on the same factory floor as the name brand refills, using the exact same materials. They're as near to identical as I'd care for them to be. So do they rip? Yeah, sometimes. In the last three refills it has happened once. This is about the same frequency as the name brand refills did in the 1.5 years I used them. So do they smell? Yeah, sometimes. But hey when your 2 year old insists on a rutabega and cheese diet for a week, there's nothing that's gonna prevent that olfactory onslaught other than sending him to grammy's house for the week when the cheese finally lets go. I mean until someone comes up with an affordable way to rifle dirty diapers into the sun, there are going to be choices, tradeoffs and sacrifices to be made. I'd buy these again. ... show more

  • Not a perfect fit for my Genie
Size: 270 Count (Pack of 4) Configuration: Diaper Pail Refills Only
Not a perfect fit for my Genie. I have had to use scissors to modify the plastic on the refil so it fits. It's a hassle and I wont purchase again. If your Genie has 4 keyway posts on the inside, this will happen to you as well. The blue plastic doesn't have the holes to receive the keyway posts. I hope this helps someone. ... show more

  • Tend to split
Size: 270 Count (Pack of 4) Configuration: Diaper Pail Refills Only
These aren’t too shabby of a price. I do have an issue with them splitting, though. It’s not like the thing is overstuffed - just when you get to the last 1/3 of the product they tend to split.

  • Works better than "actual" Genie bags
Size: 270 Count (Pack of 4) Configuration: Diaper Pail Refills Only
I have used a Diaper Genie for both of my kids (exact same Diaper Genie actually). For my daughter I only bought the "name brand" bags (all the wasted dollars!) and they worked great. When I bought the same bags for my son (6 years later) the quality either dropped or my son takes big dumps compared to my daughter. I had 6 failures at the seams. That is not fun to deal with. I am pretty sure I wasn't overloading them. I figured I might as well save a few dollars and buy the cheap stuff. What's the worst that can happen? So far the worst thing that has happened is I regret I didn't do this sooner. Not a single failure, and I am definitely over stuffing them. Granted I haven't used these as long as the "originals" but I think they will hold up just fine. The feel of the plastic is at least on par with the name brand and I don't detect any odor leak. I will be back to remove a star if I have a seam failure with this brand. ... show more
