  • Good for a beginning farmer who has little mechanical experience.
Good overview of basic mechanical work and maintenance. Doesn't go into advanced work, but it does tell you when to give up and call a professional, which is a good thing if you haven't turned bolts much.If you already know how to use a multimeter, replace a bearing, find grease zerks, etc. you don't need it, go for a shop manual for your equipment instead. It covers its stated goals quite well. ... show more

  • Really Tiny Book!
I didn't pay enough attention to the specs on this book; it is really small, so it doesn't contain a lot of information. It is 108 pages, BUT I can cover the book with my average (women's) sized hand. In addition, in its very limited space the book covers things like cotter pins and how bolts are sized, and even a whole page of pictures of types of wrenches, which leaves little room for more in depth information. There are really no specific instructions for any one piece of equipment, just very general instructions on things that are common to most motorized equipment (e.g., flushing a radiator, winterizing fuel). The information in the book seems to be accurate, but this is the Little Golden Book of farm equipment, and anyone that has any basic experience with mechanics will find this book to be of limited usefulness. ... show more
