  • Old, but still very easy to install and very effective.
Color: Olive Drab Green
These things are old school, but still effective at making stanag style mags easier to draw from a particularly tight mag pouch.

  • They fit AK mags also
Color: Black
Even though these are designed for AR15 magazines, with a little effort they will fit on Magpul AK mags. Dont be put off by those that say they are hard to install. If you dont have the hand strength ask your wife's boyfriend to help.

  • Great, but....
Color: Black
These things are exactly as described, and they do make it easier to locate and extract a mag from a deep pocket on your vest or pouch. They are strong, resilient, and should last pretty much forever, I'd guess. If you're installing one on a mag with a base-plate that doesn't stick out past the mag's side (like my two steel mags), then it's not too hard to put it on, and it grips tight so it won't come off (without a lot of effort). So far, so good. But there are a couple of drawbacks, which may or may not affect YOU. (1) On polymer mags with "fat" base-plates, these things are very hard to put on...virtually impossible unless you warm them first with a hair-dryer (my thanks to other reviewers for that tip). On my one Magpul Pmag, even with a well-heated mag assist, I had trouble. On my IMI (Israeli) mags, the base-plates don't stick out quite as much, but the corners of the base-plates are squared off (...the Pmag's corners are rounded), so putting on the assists is just as hard (hint: start with the sharp back corners). To tell you the truth, on mags with "grippy" protruding base-plates, I'm not sure these assists help all that much -- even without them, the Pmag and IMI mags are pretty easy to grab. (2) The assists add quite a bit to the width of the mags. If you only carry one mag per pocket, this is likely no big deal. But if you carry two mags in one pocket, the FOUR LAYERS of heavy rubber make the two bases significantly fatter (at least 3/8 in). This can cause them to jam in the pocket...ESPECIALLY ON POLYMER MAGS THAT ALREADY HAVE FAT BASE PLATES. The texture of the rubber assists makes this jamming worse. It can really be hard to pull the first mag out of a tight 2-mag-pocket. I think these things are great on metal mags or any mag with a narrow base-plate. If you only carry one mag per pocket, they are good for any mag. One last point -- I've shot a lot and hunted for over 60 years, but I just bought my first AR-15, so I'm definitely not an AR expert. But I see that one or two reviewers have said that these assists make it impossible to follow the normal procedure to clear an FTF because you can't slap the base of the mag to ensure proper seating. Really? Maybe I don't know how hard you're supposed to slap the mag, but I have NO trouble slapping a mag with an assist on it. Honest, it just doesn't seem to get in the way at all, IMHO. ... show more

  • As advertised-Works with issue 3 mag pouch and with 15/22 mag
Color: Black
Like many others have said, the tried and true speed tape/duct tape and 550 cord work great. I recommend double looping, because I have seen the single cord break on my buddies before. Also, I question how long over time being exposed to the sun, weather, and the darkness of my storage closet this method will hold up. These things are under $4 a piece and I literally know that having a magazine properly prepared to be retrieved for a combat reload can literally save your life. They were easy to put on my standard 30 round military issue M-4 5.56 magazines. They also did just fine on the Smith and Wesson 15M&P 30 round mags. I had one left over and I actually was able to put it on my M&P 15/22 magazine as well (my other 5.56 still had duct tape and 550 cord). I like the idea that I can move them to different mags when I need to. I love the fact that they provide extra protection when I eject a magazine and it drops (on or off the field of battle). Lastly, and this was a big deal: I still use the issue 3 magazine pouch with the plastic push snap for most of my rifle magazines. The top of this are stiff, yet still rubber-floppy. I was able to snap my mag pouches closed even with these on the magazines. I was really impressed and it was worth the money not to have to wrap and cord my remaining mags. Hope you like it as much as I do. ... show more
