  • Sturdy structure for small to mid-size kitties
Color: Beige
I'm always on the lookout for sturdy cat climbing structures because I have a continual flow of foster cats coming through my home. This cat tower is very sturdy while having a relatively small footprint. The tower is easy to put together. The one caveat to that is that when bolts need to go through some of the outer fabric, sometimes it's hard to get it through. I quickly realized that it's helpful to poke through the fabric with something like the allen wrench used to tighten the bolts or a screwdriver. Once you've poked through, it's much easier to connect the two pieces with the bolt. It took me less than an hour to put the tower together - the only "help" I had was my Siamese cat who really is no help at all. I've included two pictures to give perspective: The Siamese cat on the left is a big boy, weighing in at about 16 pounds. He's not a Maine Coon but he is close to that breed in size. This tower is a little small for a kitty his size but that doesn't stop him from enjoying it. Note: he easily knocks over some smaller cat trees but thus far this one has stayed upright even when he lunges at it. (I have not yet anchored it to the wall. The tower does come ready to anchor). The second picture includes my Ninja cat that is an average size cat, weighing in at 8 pounds. This tree is a good fit for a cat her size. Overall, a good value for the price. ... show more

  • Grandcat Approved
Color: Beige
I got this for my son's cat, Francis. From a wee baby, Francis is now about 14 pounds. Although this tower's perches are "snug" for him, he fits, and he seems to like it. We all know cats will make themselves fit into those tight spaces whenever they can, and this at least gives him another option. He has another larger tower, but it's as almost as old as he is, so a replacement tower was due. Do note that my son has this sort of wedged into a corner beside a table. If your cats are larger, wall strap anchors or a similar set up like my son's is a good idea. This tower is easy to assemble, done in about half an hour. There was no problem with the screws-holes lining up - you just have to go about assembly with a patient hand. This is the "fur" type covering rather than carpet. It will probably shed, but they make these tools which have one side rough, the other kind of like a micro-comb. The rough side cleans these towers so well. Just look for pet hair remover tool and you'll thank me later when keeping up with the hair and lint shed is a breeze. Overall a good product for the price, and I would recommend it to give small to medium size cats a fun way to climb, exercise and then rest. ... show more

  • Good bang for the buck
Color: Grey
I am reviewing the MADE 4 PETS cat tree, 56", which at the time of this review was $59.99. This is my second cat tree install of the week, the previous being a $240 mess. I was pleasantly surprised with this one. This one has a significantly better price to quality ratio. Installing was relatively simple, though I did encounter some difficulties getting holes to line up with the bolts. I would recommend putting the allen wrench threw a screw hole to help line up with the bolt hole on the other side, since this makes lining things up MUCH easier when you go to insert the bolt. Also, pay attention in Steps 1 and 2. The back corners in these two steps have TWO holes; be sure to use the hole furthest from the center; the instructions are a little ambiguous here. Once installed, the cat tree looks pretty nice and is pretty sturdy. Plenty of spots for kitties to play peekaboo, or to lounge around. Also gives them a place to scratch that isn't your furniture. Two complaints I have would be related to the round seats. First, these attach to the pole below with just one bolt; that's probably strong enough if the cats don't get to rowdy, but I think this should include a big washer to spread the force out over a larger area so it's less likely to break the chipboard. Secondly, the 'backs' for the round seats have no filling or rigidity to them, so they don't sit upright like they look in the listing photos. Instead, they want to fold inward onto the seat. And a small design change could have simplified production, the # of parts, and made assembly much faster. The back and rightmost poles use two slightly offset holes when they pass through something, which requires two different types of fasteners at these locations. Had they just used one hole with the double sided bolts, this would have been a simpler install with fewer parts and less likelihood to mix up the holes in those spots. However, for $60 this is an affordable cat tree that should last your furry friends for quite a while. ... show more

  • Cat loves it
Color: Beige
My cat loves his new cat tree. He especially enjoys the top platform with the little fuzzy ball hanging down, and sharpening his claws on the sissal rope. I've really enjoyed watching him & his sisters play on it. It was fairly easy to assemble, with my limitations in mind. I'm not the best at assembling furniture to be honest. I do feel like it's not quite as sturdy as I'd like. I don't think it's an assembly issue, I think it's more of needing to be more bottom heavy to account for the fact that a cat will eventually be playing, rolling, and climbing around on top sort of issue. While it has not once fallen over, I've had more then a few scares thinking that any moment now it might. Any time a cat leaps from the top levels it does quite a bit of rocking, for example. Overall I think these issues are pretty universal with cat trees. As far as durability goes - it is of course already showing wear & tear. I do expect that within the next six months I'll be looking for carpet to re-carpet it with, and be adding new sissal rope. The base seems durable enough for it to survive quite awhile as long as you consider that the surfaces are meant to be destroyed by your cat and you should expect that to happen. As long as the base is quality you shouldn't need to toss the entire cat tree. I expect to get a few years of good use out of this! ... show more
