This cute tiny thing is great! I have a regular sewing machine, but I wanted something to try on paper and while traveling. I have not used this on fabric yet except once sewing fabric to paper. It has gone through glue... Just go slow. The thread does get caught on the tensioner- it's too tight sometimes, but you loosen it a bit and it's ok. Play with it, you figure out the kinks. Already having sewing experience did help me figure its annoyances out. If you find using it fast is difficult, try turning the wheel by hand. People do slow stitching... Hand stitching. You can do slow stitching with a machine. Just turn the wheel towards yourself while guiding the paper/ fabric. You have more control, less likely to jumble the thread, and it's still easier than hand stitching. ... show more

I bought this for my daughter for her 8th birthday as she’s expressed an interest in sewing recently. I liked the safety features that it has for a young beginner. She was so excited to receive it, it was definitely the favorite gift! Unfortunately we began to use it and the thread continuously bunched up under the fabric we were sewing. We repeatedly untangled the thread, re-threaded the needle and started again. This went on, over and over for about 45 minutes until we finally gave up on it and decided to use my machine. We ended up with about 6 inches of a clean-ish seam from this machine. It was inexpensive so I didn’t expect it to be top notch, but I did expect it to work. It was disappointing. I bought it in advance of her birthday so by the time we opened and used it and discovered that it didn’t work, my window to return it closed. I wouldn’t recommend this purchase. ... show more

Tensioner is too cheap and machined it nut was inside a closed machine no way to put it on the bolt to even fix. No way now to control stitch. May be a 1 x thing sense machined and glued together . Looked good for the $25 originally . I going to return .

Cute machine and idea, however the thread comes out of the needle constantly. It is frustrating for a young girl who is trying to learn to sew when I have to help thread the needle literally almost every time. It is not user error.
