  • Nice little unit!
I was skeptical about this option when I was initially shopping for a small extractor to use with my fiber galvo laser setup. I went ahead and took a gamble on this one despite it having no reviews whatsoever when I bought it. However, I have been pleasantly surprised with its performance. The extractor is very well made, simple to use, and is surprisingly powerful. I will admit there are arguably better options out there for my particular application, but I am definitely pleased with my purchase. My only complaint would be that at full power it seems to be much louder than they advertise, but with the extraction performance you get out of such a small unit... I can see past it. Overall I am impressed with the performance and believe the product to be a good value. Definitely recommend as long as your expectations are reasonable ... show more

  • Straight-up fraudulently described
This thing claims to be 80 watts, but comes with a power supply that is only capable of producing 36 watts at peak output (24V, 1.5A output), and less than 30 watts at 80%. And they made up for the lack of power by spinning the fan ridiculously fast, and then lying about how loud it is. My decibel meter read 82dB right next to the thing, and at a meter away--which you could never get it because the hose is only about 18 inches long--it still read 68dB. ... show more

  • Worth it
I got this for when I do my stained glass work. It came well packaged, seems quite sturdy, easy to assemble what few parts need to be, and has very good suction. I checked out the filters, and looks to be a good set up! I love being able to adjust the power. I wouldn’t say this is a quiet machine…but it’s not horrible and I can just turn my music up some. I would have given 5 stars, but there was no instruction manual (not sure there really needs to be one). But also, it would be good to have some info on where to get replacement filters for this specific machine. Either way, glad I got this one, hopefully it holds up! ... show more

  • Great Suction
The media could not be loaded. This feels like a quality unit, in every way and exceeded my expectations for bench soldering, except for the exhaust orientation, which I explain below. I got this because of the hose that could be brought directly to the source of fumes. And that works even better than expected. The suction is quite a bit stronger than my current extractor, as well, so this does a very nice job collecting all the fumes. But there is no way to set it on its side, and blow the fumes out the back, since it has some impediment on each of the four sides. Instead, it requires sitting it flat on its four rubber pads that hold it up off the desk a half inch, so that the fan flows into the bench and disperses outward in all directions, including the one you're soldering. It is somewhat louder than my current extraction fan and filter, but it can be turn it down using the speed knob. So it is much quieter, when you don't need as much suction. So if I can come up with a way to set it on its side, so that the exhaust is directed away from me, then this will be a welcome replacement for my current extractor. ... show more

  • Adequate if very close to circuit board but louder than they claim.
This was a bit pricey for what it is, basically a motor inside a small box with two filters. I'm a retired electronics technician. I have built an electronics bench and keep myself busy putting together STEM electronics kits and building small circuits. So this will be a welcome addition to my bench. However, I don't like false advertising. They claim less than 60db, which is mild conversation level. On my db meter, unless I got 6 feet away from it, it was always much louder. This is designed for soldering. When you're soldering you are right there next to the extractor since the hose extends less than 2 ft from the unit. At that point it often goes over 70db. As you know db. measurements are not linear. 70db is MUCH louder than the 60db they claim. Point being expect a rather annoying non-stop hiss and motor noise the entire time you're concentrating on soldering that tiny 1/8W resistor of ceramic capacitor to your board. That can be a distraction. Secondly, the suction is adequate for a small soldering job if the end of the hose is only inches away from your circuit board, but at only 6 inches away cranked up full capacity, it barely attracts the fumes. So calling this a "powerful" suction would be exaggerating. Finally, the end cap you are supposed to screw onto the hose does not fit correctly (see my pic). It won't stay on the hose. I suppose I could epoxy it on, but rather than that I simply don't use it, which allows me to get the end of that hose just that much closer to the actual soldering point. It did not come with any instructions at all, but then I'm not sure you really need that in this case as I was able to figure out what screwed onto what putting it together. Only three stars given that it's louder than advertised, it's not all that powerful of a suction, and the end cap doesn't fit onto the hose. ... show more

  • Where do I start... READ BEFORE BUYING
Just going to get right to the point(s) - 1) Filters are very expensive for what you get, and trust me, you will need to replace often 2) The design makes it to where ALL of the dirty fume residue targets the MIDDLE of the filter only, 3 laser jobs and the entire filter is useless 3) DOES NOT eliminate smoke odor, actually distributes in throughout working area by blowing out from bottom of unit, I blame this on the design from point #2 above Save your money, use a proper exhaust system that forces the air outside. This unit is a dangerous alternative ... show more
