These filters, both the charcoal bottom and the top filter....well, they don't last too long if you're going hog wild with your laser. I got about 2 months with my set of top filters. After that, well I had to improvise because xTool hadn't released these replacements yet. Do not recommend the improvisation method :p That said, these just work; no more smoke smell, good airflow, and should last a while. That said, buy the official replacements, not knock offs. They’re very good and they fit in the eggs too great to reduce the smoke, but I’m going to put an in-line fan in because they’re quite expensive you have to change them often.

Absolutely necessary with Laser processing. The top filter can be washed. The middle and bottom filters last a long time depending on whta product is being engraved (wood, acrylic, metal, etc) and how much work you do. It does elimiate smoke and oder.
