Appearances would make you think these peelers are junk and cheaply made, but let me tell you these peelers perform more than expectations would allow. Yes, they are definitely cheap in PRICE, but in quality those blades be skinning those vegetables with such grace and ease. I love the grip on the handles as the rubber (like most do) provide enough grip to reduce slippage especially from wet hands. I cannot attest the longevity of the sharpness of the blades, but I'm sure a year is all it can give. With the price being so affordable, I have no issues with just buying a new one. ... show more

Most horizontal peelers are much bigger, and that has always been a problem. With no place to put my finger near the blade, controlling them adequately becomes an issue. Not so with these. The design has a perfect finger rest at the fork of the "Y" which gives solid control. They fit the hand well, and cut really well. The three each have a differing use, including a Julienne maker my wife really loves for cucumber salad. Best of all, they are sized so that all three fit easily in our overloaded kitchen tool drawer and the different colors make them easy to spot! Recommended! ... show more

    • Inexpensive Peelers with a Lot of Functionality, But Be Careful as They are Very Very Sharp

I needed a new potato peeler and the one in this set works very well. However, be very, very careful how you use these because the blades are ultra sharp. I watched the posted video that showed the julienne peeler being used to shred carrots. The carrots were very hard and in certain views, the person holding the peeler would hold the carrot flat in the hand and use the julienne peeler going from the tip of her fingers to her palm, where the carrot was positioned. Now personally, I think you are going to end up with fingers being hurt because of the way it shows holding the veggie. Just don't do it that way. I think you should hold one end and swipe away from your fingers and hand, just so you don't end up with a cut that could have been avoided. Nice inexpensive peelers when used safely. ... show more

I'm just learning to cook after a lifetime of being married to someone who did all the cooking and now entering life as a single person. So, I'm gathering tools and beginning to appreciate how handy it is to have ones that work well. These are easy to hold, the swivel tops conform to the potato or carrot or whatever you're peeling. I haven't tried the one that does soft stuff (I've never felt the need to peel a tomato), but I'm sure it's great if I ever have that need. I'd recommend these for beginners for sure and I bet the advanced chefs already know how great a good peeler is to have handy. ;) ... show more

I recently bought another peeler that has Jullien cutting and then I saw this on Amazon and thought maybe I should give it a try. This one is way better and cheaper than the one I bought. It has 3 modes of peeling, long thin stripes, Jullien, and peeling. Comes with a second peeler which is standard and that one has a knife too to help in the kitchen. the handle is soft and easy to handle, and it is very sharp and works perfectly.
