  • Beautifully set in our home!
Size: Family XL
I recently purchased the Luna Bean Huge Oversize XL Family Hand Casting Kit, and it was an incredible experience for my family! This kit is perfect for capturing the unique bond between family members, as it comfortably casts up to six hands, making it ideal for both adults and kids. The instructions were easy to follow, and the materials provided were high-quality. The molding process was fun and engaging, allowing us to work together and create something truly special. The silicone material sets quickly, and we were able to achieve detailed, lifelike impressions of our hands. Once we finished the casting, we painted and decorated the finished piece, and it now serves as a beautiful display in our home. It’s a fantastic keepsake that we’ll cherish for years to come. Overall, I highly recommend the Luna Bean Family Hand Casting Kit to anyone looking to create a meaningful family memory. It’s a fun project that brings everyone together! ... show more

  • VERY difficult to open the bucket - but the kit is easy to use, and produces great results!
Size: Couples Large
After struggling with the bucket for quite some time to try to figure out how to open it (felt like it was glued shut), we were finally able to pry it open. The kit is definitely pretty easy to follow (watching the instructional video online is very helpful - just search for the product name on YT & you'll find it). Just a few things to remember: make sure both packets are thoroughly mixed with water, don't touch the sides or bottom of the bucket, remember to wiggle your hands a bit when first putting into the molding mixture to reduce the number of bubbles, you'll have a couple of minutes to finalize your position in the bucket before the mixture starts to harden. When the mixture is completely set, it was actually pretty easy to pull our hands out, use the wood sticks to gently pull the mold away from your arm. Aside from a few bubbles in the plaster (which were easy to scrape/pick off with the included tools, just work carefully so you don't remove too much), the casting came out GREAT!! Really shows the detail in the hands! The instructions say to let the plaster dry completely for at least one week before attempting to paint or seal it (if you plan on doing that). I absolutely love the results, it will be a lifetime keepsake!! HIGHLY recommend! Makes a great anniversary keepsake ❤️ ... show more

  • Amazing!
Size: Couples Large
I bought it as an anniversary gift and it was worth the purchase! It was easy to do and captured every little detail in the had. It’s a nice size and very sturdy. It feels like a thick, heavy sculpture when done. It has a modern look and pair nicely with any furniture. I recommend it 100%.

  • Excellent product, but somewhat hard to use.
Size: Couples Large
The quality of this product is fantastic. I gave this a 4 instead of 5 star rating only because of difficulty to use. I'll start with quality first though. This product blew me away with how much detail it captured. Every little line in the skin was shown. I cannot find fault with its potential to create fantastic castings. However, I think it unlikely that an inexperienced person will be able to reach that full potential on the first try. The process is not extremely difficult itself, but there are little tricks that are needed to achieve a good casting. The instructions are quite good though and there are videos on YouTube that show how to do it, so if you follow those to the letter you should have success. Here are a few things I learned in the process: • Don’t use too warm of water. Our first attempt was a complete flop because the water was too warm and the mold solution set up almost instantly, before we even got it all mixed in. I think it recommends 70 degrees F. Just remember that 70 degrees in water feels much cooler than it does in air, so if you just judge by the feel of it, I recommend erring on the side of too cold rather than too warm. • Mix the molding solution well. On our second attempt, we were worried that the mold would set up very fast like it did the first time, so we quickly mixed it up and jammed our hands in leaving more clumps than we should have. We found that the cast sets up much slower with cold water, so our hurry was unnecessary. We should have taken our time to mix the solution better. • Go as deep as you can. We mistakenly raised our hands up further than intended after finding the bottom of the bucket and ended up with a shorter cast than we would have liked. • Fill the mold and bucket as full as you can with the casting rock. We only filled ours up to where we thought we wanted the casting to end, but it turns out that the water settles out of the casting solution and rises to the top, so the top ½ to ¾ inch of the cast is lost. I wish we would have overflowed the mold in order to get as much as possible. It’s not hard to cut some off once it’s done if you put in too much. • Really take care to get the casting rock into every little spot. There is a reason the video shows them adding casting rock and swirling the bucket around on its side several times to get the rock into every little crevice. Don’t skip this step, and also make sure you get all the air out. Every air bubble is a blemish on the end product. You can touch these up, but every touch up spot is a spot that doesn’t have the texture of your skin on it. • Be careful with wrings. My wring was situated so that there was a small gap between it and my finger. This allowed the mold to get into that gap so that the wring wouldn’t come out without tearing the mold a little. As a result, the wring looks pretty bad. • A third person would be helpful. We did it with just the two of us. It is doable with just two, but I think it would have been much easier to have a person preparing while my wife and I just had to worry about getting our hands in it. This is a really cool product, and I will probably do it again sometime. Good luck! ... show more
