We got this because we have this one room one whole wall is windows. In the summer time no matter what you put your house temp on it always warm in that room and the winter always cooler. I have a small house 1200 square foot. My electric bill started getting out rageously high tried the thermal black out curtains didn’t work and I didn’t know what else I could do. A guy suggested reflective tint said you could get different colors you could go light or black out tint making room very dark and we have pulled down stairs for the attic he suggested a zipper close thing it goes on your attic side right over the door and it zips up so when you get it on you do have to zip and unzip going in and out but we don’t use the attic very much so we don’t care to zip and unzip and it’s not expensive I think ours in the $20 something range it comes with double sided tape and didn’t stick good at all so my boyfriend got 3m double sided tape . I went with the silver tint didn’t really want to darken the room. During the day time your windows look like mirrors you can’t see through them from the outside you can see out window from the inside the house. You can see threw the tent from the outside at night if your lights are on. But the best part is over a 4 month span my electric bill has dropped $60 a month and we haven’t done tent on the whole house yet just the front side of house I wanted to see if it was going to help before doing whole house. I ordered some more tent hoping to have enough to do whole house. Depends on the size of your windows and what size you order I have standard size windows I think ordered the 35. Something by 9.8 feet and one roll did 2 windows. I’m hoping when whole house is done the electric bill will drop some more but if it doesn’t I’m still tickled with the $60 dollar drop and I love the look the tint made my house look on the outside I think it’s made my house look a lot better. Maybe not the typical use case but my daughter wanted to create a unique costume for Halloween. She found this and we decided to give it a try. Our first attempt to apply it was a little difficult because we were trying to do something outside of the actual use case for it, but it worked. Overall I found the tint to be perfect. She can see through it but people can't see in. It's perfect for what we needed. I could see this being great for our west facing windows during the summer to cut down on the heat from sunlight but for our use case it worked great as regular window tint for a costume. ... show more

I read a lot of reviews and searched for the right privacy film and I ended up with this one mainly because of the brown tone and I could not be more pleased with the results. The first installation was trial and error but I developed a rhythm and my 16 year old son assisted and we knocked out the front windows with 6+ hrs of direct heat. I definitely recommend 2 vs 1 person to pull the film apart to ensure it is applied appropriately. Once you find your rhythm it will be a breeze! Overall pleased with the appearance! ... show more

I applied this in 60 degree weather so can’t fully vouch for it keeping it cooler but it definitely reduces light. Tips for applying to panels: -Cut in pieces about an inch bigger each direction. Rather than measure, I held the roll to the window, rolled out the film far enough to cover one row and then cut. Then I cut that piece in two and it was exactly enough for two panels. -Spray window with soapy water. You want a nice mist not streams but it will still work if too wet. -Peel clear film off and gently stick cut piece to one side of panel. I stuck it to the top wood divider. -Press in at the center of the panel so that vinyl film and glass meet. Then use a squeegee or credit card to smooth out to edges. -Use an exacto knife to cut vinyl film at edge of panel. I held the credit card and blade together and ran down each edge. It took me less than an hour to do the whole paneled window! ... show more

Not happy with the length and width. There’s clearly a picture of a young lady tinting the windows of her home. Which gave me the impression that this particular tint was for tinting residential homes, apartments and places of business. I think this is a great product. From the inside looking out, just looks like you are looking through sun glasses. From the outside in, you cannot see the window treatments, we have blinds, at all. It is like you blacked out the window. I don’t mind, just wish I knew that going into it. It works wonders for the room that has almost 6+ hours of sunlight hitting it. You can barely feel the suns rays now vs it feeling like a greenhouse before. The room stays much cooler and I now have the added benefit of lots of privacy since you can not see into the window from outside. So it was a negative and quickly a plus.
