  • Smartest purchase I've made for my cat
Color: Black
Pros: - Very easy to change and dispose of bags - No smell leaves the genie when it's closed - Design looks cool and doesn't scream "I'm full of pee and poop." Nice Cons - The handle is sturdy but requires one hand to pull and the other to hold the genie in place - Depending on your choice of litter, some residue may stick to the top portion which can cause it to smell bad Here's a tip: Toss in an air freshener gel in the bottom to keep it completely fresh. So I have one of those Tidy Cat Breeze litter boxes with the pellets that keep their poop on top and the pee goes right through it onto a pad. So a big problem was disposing of the poop because it's not covered by anything so we usually bag it and toss it because walking across the house to flush it got old real quick. So I finally decide to buy the Genie after months of putting it off and man let me tell you. Smartest thing I did. The initial set up was kind of confusing but once I had it set up it made life so much easier. You open the lid, toss the poop, pull the slider and that's it. No smell, no problem. Now I believe on the product itself it said you can change it every 2 weeks but I highly recommend you do it every week. Right now approaching the summer the house is obviously hotter but I made the mistake of leaving it for 2 weeks. Standing near the genie I couldn't smell anything at all. Once I opened it up however, I got smacked with this awful smell. Which leads me to really my only complaint. The handle that you pull to drop the poop and seal the bag could be better. It is very strong which is great but it becomes a 2 hand affair because one has to pull the handle and the other has to push the genie back so you don't drag it forward. Which isn't really a problem but there's a chance for residue to stay on the "loading area" of the bag. That's why I had the horrible smell when I opened the lid, other than that residue the smell is mostly blocked off because the strong handle. But like I mentioned earlier, I'm not dealing with clumps of litter because of the type that we have here, so it's just raw poop being tossed in there. Which can some times leave residue above the blocker and cause it to smell. ... show more

  • Best Way to Keep Your Cat Happy with You
Color: Black
I recently adopted a cat and could not be happier. However, I am really bad at scooping his litter and he has meowed at me nonstop because of it some days. I felt bad but meowed back to him "Look, I don't have poop bags and it takes a long time to walk around the block to get to alley. I will work on it." Which, let's be honest, he did not take well so he peed on the floor. I knew I needed a solution, so I did some research. I found the Litter Genie and said "Hey, I'll try it out." I have not been disappointed. Having it next to the box is amazing, and allows me to scoop the litter box more than once a day. The smell is not there, and it was easy to set up. The fact that it also includes a scoop and holder for the scoop was amazing. Why I wanted to give 4 stars, but decided against it: 1. I was hesitant about purchasing because the refills are expensive, and it was not clear how they work and/or how they last so long. They work well and now it makes sense, so I included an explanation below. 2. In order to set up, I had to open the whole thing, which was fine, except the latch to keep it closed again on the bottom got messed up somehow and does not keep latched as well as it should. I had to move it, and tried lifting from the top to move it, and only the top came with me. Its not a huge deal, but a little annoying. 3. The "refill" included is actually just the first liner pack you need in order to use it. It is a bit misleading to say it is a "Refill included" but i'll let it pass because technically it is a refill you would buy, but not an additional item to use at a later time. Buy this thing. For real. It's worth it, especially if you get the refills on subscribe and save. How the bags work: A refill is just one long plastic cylinder you pull up from the hard plastic holder, tie a knot, and pull it through the center to make a "bag". Then when the "bag" is full, you use the built in cutter to cut the plastic bag and tie another knot. Then you have more plastic to pull and do the same steps again. This is how it lasts for so long. When I read it, I thought it was just a single use bag and was like "How the heck does it cost that much?" But now I understand. Definitely worth it. ... show more
