    • Overall useful, just need it better suited for tight spaces
The hanger removal pliers work great given adequate space. The U-shaped end is rather thick, which is great from a durability standpoint. Problems arise if you need access to a thin spot. A better solution would be a tapered U-shaped part. The U-shaped part is rather wide in general, so a narrower footprint would help in small areas. This tool was used in a small space and are the reasons for my complaints. Despite these shortcomings, it beats trying to wrestle a stuck rubber piece using non-leveraged muscle contractions. ... show more

    • Handy little specialty tool!
This thing is nearly perfect, but for the price, I'm very happy. I try not to go too crazy on single-purpose tools (who has the money and the space for all that?), but this is one thing I'm glad I bought. It got into a relatively tight spot, and popped the hanger off the pin pretty easily. Would have taken me way longer and more effort without it, especially given the reduced clearances. Two reasons I said "nearly perfect". First, for additional leverage, a slightly longer handle would have been nice. I have very large hands and am stronger than average, and even still, there were times I needed to get both hands on this thing to get the torque I needed (petroleum jelly on the parts you're trying to separate helps, btw). Second, I haven't permanently bent the tool yet, but I suspect I eventually will. It's reasonably well made, but the handles, which take the leverage, are stamped steel, and I can feel when I'm really squeezing down on this thing with both hands that it's starting to "give" a little. All in all, I don't expect to use this often, but when I do, I'll be glad I have it, just like I was last night for its first use. I'm sure if I was a professional, I'd have a tool costing five times this and better made, but I find this is pretty decent overall. ... show more

Recommended on Miata forums. Spray some PB blaster onto the hangers & it’s easy work. I’ve done it without the tool on other vehicles and I hated it… hated it so bad… No quality issues whatsoever, but I was careful on the amount of pressure I was using as well as making sure I was accurate as possible while squeezing. ... show more

    • Never realized how much I needed these
Replaced lots of exhaust parts over the years and usually just spent the extra 3-10 minutes it takes to force the hanger loose of the rubber. That usually resulted in a bruised knuckle and a little blood spilt. No more though. This set of pliers makes it a 30 second job - squirt a little lube into the hanger hole, place the plier in place, squeeze and it's out. First time, not expecting it to work, the muffler fell on my chest before I realized it was out. Worth the cost. ... show more
