We have a Frozen Lionel train and it looks like a toy. This looks very expensive and looks like a model train, not like a toy. The soup d effects are great. It has a very realistic whistle, and the clips from the movie are perfect. It was very easy to setup and take part. Kids loved running the train all Christmas. The cool feature is there are 2 sets of sound effects. When the train is idle, and when the train is in motion, which I think is a really neat aspect. Everything from this purchase was amazing. Only thing that I disliked was the water vapor smoke system for the train. It's not working correctly and seems to only perform 1-2 chuffs of smoke when the train first Turns on then doesn't work for the remainder of the train run.

I purchased the Bluetooth version and I can control this train with my phone using the Cab 3 app. The instructions listed a different app, which apparently is not available here in America but I saw that this was the same company and luckily it works for me. Unfortunately, I have to reconnect to the train every time I turn it on. I wish that there was someway to save it to the app, but once I do connect, it’s pretty cool. I can control the sounds and make the train go slow or fast, also forward or reverse. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase and so is my Ravenclaw daughter! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Item as described, very fun & cute, audio is louder than expected, runs forwards & backwards, kind of bulky but then again that's the type of train - good for kids or beginners. Large enough track to go around decent sized Christmas tree.

Fun train. Easy for dad to assemble. Haven’t had a lot of derailment except at the hands of my four year old. The complaints about the lack of volume control are valid. Biggest disappointment is that the couplers are not the same as the rest of the ready-to-play line up, with the exception of the Thomas set. I was hoping to have some rolling stock compatibility between the sets as we also have the polar express. There is no individual rolling stock available except for used overpriced stuff on eBay. The hook couplers on the hogwarts are superior to the fixed knuckle on the other sets. They come unhooked far less and are easier to hook while on the track. Overall very pleased with the exception of the compatibility issue. As a bonus the track being simple plastic should allow for a seasonal garden/deck setup with only the engine coming inside (or parked in the depot station I plan on making). My nephew will be getting the Thomas set next year for Christmas so I have something to play with when I go to my sisters house. ... show more

My four year old loves it and I imagine will for the next 6 or 7 years. Excellent toy train for the price (under $100) - I don't think some people realize how much more a 'nicer' metal train would cost. Track is easy to put together. The remote control is easy to use, my son learned how to use it in about 30 seconds. He loves the sound effects - remote buttons for bell, whistle, and a several voice clips from the first movie. Both the train and track are plastic but seem sturdy to play with. Train looks good with nice detail for a toy. The color is burgundy, not brown like some people have complained about. This train is great to put under a tree and not be worried about it with my son. I purchased the more detailed metal electric O gauge train (3 to 4 times more expensive) several years ago and I would not trust it under the tree. I setup the train on hard wood floor and the track is stable. Don't know yet how it will run if the track is on carpet. ... show more

Smoke effect doesn't work as advertised...what a shocker. The locomotive doesn't hold water, I put almost a jug full on and it leaked all over the bench. Cant use the Lionel app on an android device even though the booklet says you can. I had to install it on my tablet. It went round the track once on autopilot, tried to connect it to the Bluetooth app, it wouldn't connect or work. The battery compartment gets full of water. After a while or started making a clicking sound and wouldn't run or even make that Bluetooth noise. This has made me very wary about buying a lionchief electric train if the trains won't connect to Bluetooth or you can't use the Lionel app on an android mobile phone. Not happy as was looking forward to getting this after it was delivered to the wrong address. The entire engine has now seized up and the wheels won't move. Did manage to get it linked to the Bluetooth app but it disconnected quite a lot. ... show more
