  • Excellent Heater, Temp Guage off
I got this for my upstairs as with three bedrooms there's only one heat vent between them. Iowa winters get cold (-10 to -15) and this little heater has done a great job at keeping the bedroom warm. My room's around 20 by 15 and typically drops to around 50-55 during the day (the house is set to 60 while I'm at work). In the evening I go up around 30-45 minutes before I go to bed and turn it on. And it'll be 65 by the time I'm ready for bed. The dogs love it. My eldest, who's 11, is slowly losing his sight and the added soft glow of the fire at night helps him get around & is much softer then a regular nightlight. The downside is the temperature gauge. It seems to be off by about 5-7 degrees. Maybe I have a defective model, but if I set my temp to 70, the room only ever gets to a 65 max temp before the heater turns off thinking it's reached it's set temp. Now it does hold this temp, but just not the temp it as set too. Not a big deal just have to do some math before bed haha. The remote is awesome too. When I first was trying to determine how far off the gauge was, being able to roll over and crank up/down the heat was awesome. Somedays I'll even crank it up to 75 (70) before emerging from the cocoon of blankets. ... show more

  • Very effective for heating a large area with a nice fairly realistic fire feature!
This is a very nice heater. It heats very well & has an excellent fairly quiet blower for dispersing the heat. It heats my 700 square foot combo kitchen, living room, dining room, & foyer area very efficiently. I am not sure that it is any more cost effective than using my central heating system, but I prefer this type of heat as it is better for my respiratory system. I usually turn off my central heat at night & heat only my bedroom with a small radiator type electric heater on very low. I use the central heat to warm up my great room in the mornings (it has 14 foot ceilings) & then switch to this heater for the rest of the day. It is much less drying for my nasal passages & provides a nice uniform warming heat to the room. The fire feature is fairly realistic & is so much better to me than dealing with the messiness of my fireplace which I have not used in years. Just my personal preference. A regular fire in an open fireplace is not very efficient anyway. This heater was more cost effective than purchasing an electric or propane firelog system. I just placed this heater in front of my fireplace. It did have a very irritating crackling sound that was made by some foil tinsel type device inside the cabinet. You could not turn it off. I quickly opened up the back of the cabinet & removed the entire apparatus. My handyman was performing some work for me when the heater arrived. He liked the crackling sound, but I found it to be unbearably irritating & would have returned the heater if I was unable to deactivate the sound. So it is just up to personal preference whether you like the sound or not. The only other feature that is a minor inconvenience is the fact that it only has swivel wheels on one end. It does make it a little more difficult to move. Overall, I have been well pleased with the heater. ... show more

  • Workmanship and that it will last a long time.
Was a little disappointed in the workmanship of the fireplace. There are some nicks and scrapes on the wood.

  • Good value for the money.
very nice unit, authentic looking flame, you have to be close to the fire place to use the remote. I can not attest to the longevity I have only he'd iy about a week. So far so good !!!

  • It is pretty. It heats a modest room
It is pretty. It heats a modest room. It is in our kitchen. It gives nice ambiance. Real wood, golden oak and matches our other cabinets nicely. It doesn't dry the air.The bulbs for lighting the area for flames are accessible and easily replaced when they burn out. The logs are okay, but they could be one log higher because the existing logs are low in a tall space. Never the less the flames look good enough. Since we don't roll the fireplace from room to room my husband made a very sturdy oak base for it to sit in leaving the casters on. It works well and It raises it off the floor and looks more like a real fireplace. It doesn't tip over easily at all. Still need to have enough air flow around it to not block the flow. It looks good. Also we can lift it out to clean or replace what is necessary. The fan is louder than I like. I wish the company would develop a quieter fan. I have yet to find that it goes on and off by itself when reaching room temp. I usually have to turn it back on. You have to turn the heat much higher than the room temperature you want, if you would like it to stay on for a while. I guess you have to experiment with it. We have had it for over a month. So far it is good. ... show more

  • Great heater!
Bought this in November of 2015, and still going strong. We have this in our den, which is a 12' x 16' room at the end of the house, and the windows the contractor used are terrible. They are very drafty so in the winter, you can almost feel a breeze coming in. This fireplace keeps the room warm and cozy on those cold winter nights. The fire effect isn't the best, but not bad to look at. I've had this for over 5 years, and I just replaced the bulbs today. The remote is nice, but it would be better if it was backlit. Overall, I am very happy with this fireplace. It looks nice, and heats the room quite well. Oh, I haven't really noticed a difference in my electric bill when using this also! ... show more

  • its fun to look at the "fire"
An attractive and effective heater. Given enough time, the air heater warms my 13' x 24' room and is an attractive addition to the room. The coals look realistic and even though you know it's artificial, its fun to look at the "fire". The kids especially enjoy this and always want to turn it on in the morning. Got this from a Marketplace seller at a great price, and I wonder if this was discounted because it was a "second". This looses a star because one part of the wood has a finishing imperfection--it looks like part of the wood mantle has an area that wasn't stained in the same proportion as the rest of the wood. Nothing terrible and not worth returning, but it is noticeable when you get close. So far, I'm happy overall with the purchase. ... show more
