I set up my LetPot in about five minutes. The directions are very straightforward; I am unsure why some reviews say it is difficult. I have a larger hydroponic planter, but purchased this one to dedicate to salad greens. I found it much easier to manage this way. I bought a second LetPot to devote solely to herbs. I aim to create a “farm-to-table” in my kitchen. ***Tip on connecting to blue tooth. If you receive the “cannot connect” result, unplug it and then plug it back in.     • Great propagation for seeds with intelligent controls
This LetPot is a nice way to propagate seeds indoors and features an app that notifies the user when water or nutrient levels are too low and need to be added. The light is fixed on a telescoping pole, allowing for adjustment as plants grow. It is important to plant the seeds according to their rate of growth in order to ensure the light height can be modified appropriately for all the plants. If the seeds you plant have different growth rates, you can start them in the LetPot with the slowest growing plants first and then adding the faster growing plants later as indicated by speed of growth. We are currently growing hearts, including Basil, Parsley, Oregano, Thyme, and Rosemary. In this mix, planting Oregano first, and then adding in Thyme and Rosemary 1-2 weeks later, followed by Basil and Parsley one week after the Thyme and Rosemary will result in a more consistent plant height for all plants. The directions that come with this China made garbage tell you absolutely nothing. What grow mode do I use? What pump mode do I use? How high to set the light? Who know. It's a secret. Garbage!

    • Great quality, perfect for beginners
The media could not be loaded. Easy to set up, didn't come with much instructions but it's pretty straightforward. Liked that it came with additional pods and it was easy and seamless to connect to the app Would definitely recommend to beginners!

    • Nice little home hydroponics set, but it could use better instructions
My kids wanted to start a garden in the back this year. We decided it would be a good idea to get the plants started before we tried to put them in. We could have bought some of the pre-grown stuff at the garden center, but the kids wanted to start from seeds. This little hydroponics set was the perfect solution to get them started. The set was a bit complicated to get started with - the instructions were pretty barebones. I found some instructions for some of the other planters on the manufacturer's website (oddly enough not this particular one, though) and was able to get it figured out well enough. The secret is that you *must* use the app if you want to have any real control over it (the lighting stays on 24/7 unless you use the app to put it on a schedule). It's also not quite obvious that it only searches for bluetooth in the first few seconds of turning it on - if you don't have your phone ready to pair, you'll miss the window and just think something isn't working. Once we got it up and running, it did a nice job. The pump was very quiet, and it was nice that it was programmed to come on only occasionally and not run all the time. We planted some cucumbers and melons - for some reason, we only got 2 of 5 to grow, but I think the kids didn't get some of the seeds quite deep enough into the sponges. The kids were ecstatic to see those two plants sprout, however. It was pretty easy to get the melon out of it's holder, but the cucumber had longer roots and my daughter wasn't as careful getting them out - she tore a bunch and the plant ended up dying. So, we had 1 out of 5 survive, but that wasn't LetPot's fault. It's now happily growing outside. Overall, the system is very nice. It's compact, quiet, and quite effective. I wish the instructions were better (really just included) and I wish more controls were put on the device instead of making them reliant on the app. But, for a simple hydroponics system, it got the job done. ... show more

    • my plants are doing great and my wife loves the look
We had an name brand one but this one is small and looks great in our kitchen plus the light helps our kitchen. The included chemicals arent great but this is a great little system. Just wish it had a drain other than that 4.5 out of 5 stars will buy another one!
