It does'nt have a thermostat but it has a timer starting at one hour, which is the one I use to heat the room up then it shuts off. I bought this because my heat in my apartment just went out during an upcoming snowstorm, I ordered at 3am and had it at 743AM!!! It heated up my ENTIRE bedroom in just an hour and even got so warm in here I moved it to the living room to heat that up. Very warm, easy to move as long as you're near an outlet, small and relatively quiet. Great value for the money. My only disappointment was one photo said 70° oscillation, which is misleading. I bought this to use in my bathroom in the winter to avoid cranking up the heat for the whole house. I place it in my 8 x 12 bathroom for about 10 minutes and then take my shower. I can step out of the shower and not feel like I stepped outside. The key features are the timer that defaults to 1 hour and the great one of cooling down when shut off. It's been down right cold, with windchills in the teens. I ordered this space heater for my bathroom. It's makes going to the bathroom in the middle of the night and whole lot warmer, and getting out of the shower more comfortable! There's 2 heat setting, and this really heats the space up quickly! I'm so glad I ordered this space heater when I did!!!! It would be perfect for an office space as well ... show more

It does put out a lot of heat for its size. That being said, it needs a variable thermostat instead of a hi/low switch. It actually gets my office too warm on the low setting and I will have to turn it off for a little while.
