I got this for a ten year old, who was looking for something a little more challenging. This was definitely adorable and fun to do as a team. She was able to do it on her own, with only help in finding the right pieces. The guide made it easier for her. The pieces are super tiny, so I do not recommend having a child do this alone for fear of swallowing them or losing them. Overall, it's a great addition to legos and those who like flowers. Each flower can be put together or stay separately to put around the house. I will probably buy this again and separate the pieces for each flower to give as a gift or wedding/party favor! ... show more

    • Lego Botanical collector: Pretty Fun build, but unsure about the way it displays

As a LEGO botanical collector, The succulents set was a pretty fun build as it has a variety of different plants. These plants really stand out as the collection includes a lot of vibrant colors, but the only issue I have with this set is figuring out the best way to display it. The plants could be displayed individually, or as it shows in the box, you can have them all connected together, but that’s where my issue arises having them all together just makes it look like an uneven bundle of plants pressed up against each other, which takes away from the actual display, but when you separate them, I guess you could say that it does have a bit of a better look? I guess I’m not entirely sure at the moment as I’m still trying to figure out the best way to display this set. Overall, it was fun to put together and my own personal issue is trying to figure out how to display it. ... show more

My mother suggested I buy the Lego Bonsai set as a gift for another family member back around last Christmas, and then I saw this set and thought of getting it as a decoration for her. Coincidentally, she saw the same thing online and expressed interest, so I picked it up. It's lovely and not too tedious to put together despite having many very small pieces. I would encourage adults to help children with this build, though, as it's really not a design that would be easy for very small kids, and really isn't an appropriate project for toddlers. This is ideally a decorative piece that teens and adults can more easily assemble, and there's even a small amount of articulation of some of the features so that you can display it in various ways. (e.g. you can arrange the different individual plants in more ways than just suggested on the box, and slightly alter the angle of some of the pieces to create unique looks.) My only tiny, tiny complaint is that exactly one little leaf-shaped piece didn't fit correctly where it was supposed to go. I could only figure after a lot of trying that it was just slightly misshapen, but fortunately I had and identical piece from the bonsai set that I could swap out, which worked. (The placement of that particular piece is different on each set, and in the succulents set it goes in a very tight corner, whereas on the tree it fits on a peg that has nothing else in the way.) Anyways, my mom loved the finished set and displayed it in her dining room. I kinda wish it was a tiny bit cheaper, but that's how it is with most Lego, I think.
