Size: 18W led machine light
This is one of my most favorite pieces in my work shop. I am just a DIY'r, so kind of jack of all trades but master of none. My workshop is in my basement, so I mounted this lamp to the joists above my head. With its articulating arm it really helps brighten up my workspace whether its when im using the bench grinder, or using pneumatic grinders on a vice and everything in between, it illuminates the area beautifully. The light is very bright, and somewhat of a narrow spectrum meaning its good to point it at something, not to light up an entire room. Its extremely sturdy, all metal. I cant speak to its waterproof as I do not use any water around it but I love it and am already contemplating getting a 2nd one for a different area of my work shop. ... show more

    • Robust Light and Base, but…
My testing indicates that their claim of 500 lumens is pretty accurate as is their 5-watt claim. The light puts out a good, bright light focused on the work area. Some claim that it’s brighter in the center. Well, as a rule, all lights tend to be brighter in the center. From a distance of 6” there is a main concentration of brightest light within a 3” circle. The next brightest area is a 4” circle. Outside of that, the light is as much as half as bright. I have no complaints about the coverage area or intensity of that coverage area. This is a machine light. The directions mention the magnetic base being adequate as long as the metal it’s being attached to has minimal thickness and flatness. If only. I was disappointed to find out that this is a plastic base with four mounting holes. That makes it difficult for machine mounting, but if you have an aluminum plate on your machine, you couldn’t use a magnet anyway. The light and base along with the gooseneck are robust, but that kind of becomes an issue. The head of the light is massive for a machine light. So is the gooseneck. Those are two things you want to be slender so they are easily maneuvered and don’t block your vision. Then there’s the cord, or almost the lack thereof. For a machine environment, the cord is rather flimsy and easily damaged. It needs to be heavier, not to carry more power, but to protect itself. The length is a little short, but isn’t too bad depending on where you mount it in relation to the power supply of your tool. Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it? Yes, but it’s not as good as it could be. Some people seem to think this is a workbench light. No, this is a machine light. It’s not good for a workbench light unless it’s a small work area. However, it does work fine for a machine light where you need a small area lit up. ... show more

    • Nice light but spend a few extra dollars and get the magnetic base version.
I would really have liked this item if it had a clamping base or if I had ordered the, slightly more expensive magnetic base version. The light itself is flexible and bright enough to put light where I need it. It took me about 2 seconds to figure out that the problem with permanently mounting a light on a piece of machinery is that there is a good chance I’ll want or need to move it eventually. The hardware that comes with the fixed base version is just four bolts. It means I will need to either construct a universal clamp of some kind, attach it to a part of the machine that is thin enough and purchase nuts to mount it or drill into my machinery and tap the holes to fit the threads of the provided bolts. If you absolutely know exactly where you need the light and won’t ever need to move it this is a reasonable option. If you are not 100% sure or want something that you can use on more than one machine I would suggest spending the couple of extra dollars and purchasing the magnetic base version they offer. ... show more

I ordered this to replace the broken task light that came with my bench grinder. That light took standard bulbs but I was never able to find the right kind of bulb that would survive the vibration as well as had the bright white task lighting I was looking for. This LED task light is perfect. It is the right length and size for my needs (I included photos showing the dimensions). I also found that the base is threaded and screws on to the flexible shaft. They did use thread locker to secure it though. But I was able to unscrew the mounting base and attach it flexible shaft directly to the factory mounting location on the back of my grinder. Surprisingly, the thread on the end of the shaft is not metric. It's a 3/8" 24 pitch fine thread. I did have to cut the cord so I could attach it to the grinder as well as wire it in to the factory harness. So, if you do that, keep in mind you won't be able to return the light or get warranty support for it. But I'm ok with that. The light output is exactly the high lumens very bright white I was looking for. The LED itself has a real glass lens and is the type of bulb that has a built-in aluminum heat sink all around it. This was a great upgrade to my shop. I'm looking to pick up more of these to add to other equipment, such as my drill press. You could also use it for any other work where you need bright white light that you can position where you need it. Such as an electronics repair bench or even a hobby station, for example. It comes with a standard two prong plug at the end of the 44" long cord so the use options are more than just shop equipment. ... show more

Mounted on my scroll saw table. Everything is heavy duty and sealed well against saw dust. I have added one to my drill press also. Light makes all the difference with my aging eyes.
