  • A Most Helpful Tool
Color: Black
This is an actual 1000+ lumen headlight! Its brightness is a must have for night time activities. This is my second purchase of this particular 'model'. Handle with care. The first only lasted 14 months before the plastic frame around the band light broke and intermittent switch function problems developed. Resulting in a Value Rating of 3.5 stars. ... show more

  • Good Headlight, Meh Motion Sensing
Color: Black
I like head-lamps. I impulse bought this one after watching a YouTube video discussing a similar competing model. Fit: Like many reviewers have mentioned, the large battery module on the side gives the unit a lopsided weight. This is tolerable, but can be annoying or bothersome, especially for prolonged use. It has no problem tightening onto my head though. Brightness: The COB mode has excellent light throw that fills my entire vision area for a decent range out. I almost always use it in "Low" brightness, but "High" will predictably throw light a bit further. The beam mode is not as bright as the cob, but is still usable, and is HIGHLY focused. With the lens retracted you get a small angled-square of light (the chip's shape and mounting). I'd rather the chip have been mounted square to the light housing, personally, so this square was aligned with your vision. But that's a nitpick. Extending the lens narrows this down even tighter to a fairly tiny round spot of light. Battery Life: I haven't even run it down yet past its first "notch" of charge. VERY good battery life. Heat: The LEDs get warm. As I noted in 'Brightness' I almost always use it in 'Low' power. The beam gets tangibly hot in its housing, although not "burn you" hot. The COB gets similarly warm. However, this is pressed directly to your forehead, and can become uncomfortable with extended usage, especially in warm weather. UIX: The light has six modes. COB bright, COB dim, COB flash, beam bright, beam dim, beam flash. The main power button cycles through them. Pretty typical of this kind of light. I would like to have seen a mode that turns on both lights, so you get the area light of the cob, plus the focused additional beam for tight work. However, the light is lacking a valuable quality of life feaure that many multi-mode lights I own have. Pressing the button "always" cycles through all the modes, and does not "just turn off" when you've been using the light for a while. You can get around this using the motion sensing power switch though. That brings me to.... Motion Sensing: With the way the LEDs run a little warm, and with the awkward mode seletion, I was hoping that this feature would be a real godsend. It almost was. But the detection range is LONG, and it's QUITE sensitive. Just walking through a doorframe with it enabled will turn the light on and off. I could see this getting really annoying really fast when camping and having the walls of your tent or trees you're walking past constantly flashing your light. I also had passing traffic (and/or their headlights?) setting it off. Not a great look to have my fairly bright head lamp flashing on and off at oncoming cars who are trying to not run me over! I ended up turning the function back off. It still has its uses, but you definitely need to mind its limitations. I still like it. ... show more

  • Recharging
Color: Black
The light functions proprrly. When you wish to recharge, be certain you use the USB-C cord that came with the light. Others, such as the apple cords, do not work. They are wired differently.

  • Front light area is not flexible
Color: Black
This is an 'initial thought' review. Long term will have to wait. The front headband is solid. This is my first step into the wide band COB lights (chip and led integrated for high density and lower power consumption). You may feel a pressure point from the center of the band on your forehead (I rarely wear hats, so this will be more obvious). I have no idea the battery life of this unit, but I expect to buy a second similar unit with no narrow beam light and at least some degree of flexibility (molding better to my forehead). Hopefully with the motion detection too. I expect the motion detection to be very useful. When my hands have oil, grease, dirt, paint, glue, etc, on them, I don't need to touch the unit. On the other hand, there will be times when I am headfirst into a smallish space (I build and install cabinets) I will probably want to turn this feature off and go conventional. The buttons are easy to feel/tactile so that will merely impact a little battery life. My wife (amongst others) will not be blinded as easily (well, assuming I remember to turn it off) with the motion detection and me turning my head to look at them. Rechargeable battery and USB C are pluses for me. Though that means having 2 on hand for site work (one charging/charged while the other is in use). ... show more

  • Hair is a problem
Color: Black
I tried out my light this morning in the wee hours, and I was at first a running carnival with flashing lights. I think my hair kept flipping it on and then off, and then on, you get the point. I adjusted things, but I had to do it a couple more times because the battery girth would cause the band to slide down. I will run with a hat next time and see if that resolves it, and I hope it does because I like my light better than general-use headlamps. After all, the whole width of the path (6-7 ft wide) was illuminated! ... show more

  • A Big Hit for my 6 & 8 year old granddaughters.
Color: Black
We take our granddaughters camping two or three times every summer. They love the headlights when we walk the campgrounds after the sun goes down. The batteries last a couple of hours so when you charge them the next day they are ready for the next evening.
