    • Battery electric lawn mowers have come a long way

Way back in 2011 I bought a Black & Decker CM1836 36-Volt Cordless Lawn Mower (not from Amazon, but I got it for a steep discount and was eager to get rid of the smelly, difficult-to-start gas lawn mower I'd been using). Unfortunately, It was awful (it's discontinued now but strangely has good reviews on Amazon) -- poor power (couldn't cut through long or damp grass), and short run time. Plus it didn't have a removable battery, so I had to drag it into my house to re-charge (I didn't have a garage, and my shed didn't have power). Just a nightmare experience, and I ended up giving it away and went back to my stinky, smelly gas powered lawn mower. In 2016 I decided to give electric lawn mowers another shot, but this time I bought a corded one (a Greenworks 25112) from Amazon, as I'd recently used a corded grass trimmer and was quite pleased with the performance. The lawn mower was only $150 (although I had to spend another $40 for a 100' extension cord). This delivered the kind of performance I was hoping for in 2011 -- a quick instant start every time, ample power, and clean and quiet. I used it for 7+ years and was fine with it, but of course using the long extension cord was an annoyance -- untangling it, dragging it to one outlet for the back, then another for the front, having to always be conscious where it was to ensure I didn't run over it, then having to wrap it back up and put it away for next time. So when I saw this Lawnmaster on sale for under $250 (less than I'd paid for a much less capable model in 2011), I figured I'd give it another shot. And boy, am I glad I did. I've used it a half dozen times so far and it hasn't disappointed. It is significantly lighter than the corded electric lawn mower I was using, and along with no longer needing a cord it makes it a breeze to maneuver. It's had no issue cutting through longer or wet grass, and the battery has lasted for my entire yard. The batteries are removable, of course, and popping them in and out to charge is a breeze. I know there are more expensive, feature-laden models out there, but I can't think of anything else I'd want on this one for a standard yard. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more

    • Great Mower, surprisingly powerful

Okay so I've had this mower for two summer seasons now. I had to write a review because it's AWESOME. It's light weight and very easy to maneuver. It cuts thick grass and it cuts through little sticks. The two batteries last through a quarter of acre of property and then have to be charged again overnight. It starts fast and easy with a simple push button. I love not having to deal with smelly and messy gasoline or pulling a rope to start it. There is a blade height adjustment lever right on the top which makes it incredibly easy to change. The handle folds in half for easy storage and without the smelly gasoline, you can store it anywhere. I strongly recommend this little machine for small properties. ... show more

Right off the box, the mower looks like a toy with all plastic look, compared with my old gas mower. However, it is very powerful as it goes through thick wet grass like nothing, whereas my old 150cc gas mower would struggle hard. Setup is simple, start up sequence needs instructions. The mower does fold down to compact size easily. Spillage is minimal. The mulch collector would get quite packed but it does not spill at all. Moreover, you can tip it over to clean the blade bowl. Charging only takes couple hours. One drawback, since it is all plastic, I do not think i can store it outside with cover on like I did with my old metal mower. Overall, this mower makes mowing easy and fast, quiet, powerful, no engine vibration, no need for engine maintenance like oil change, filter replacement... ... show more

    • MY MOW CHORE WENT UP IN SMOKE IN JUST 2 MINTUES!!!

The media could not be loaded. I am so furious right now. I am sick of that old worn-out line, "You get what you pay for." As if our lower spending level is to blame for poor workmanship! That is just backward thinking, it doesn't serve our best interest and it only serves to protect companies who do shoddy work from being held responsible and accountable. I will not comply with this! This mentality has to stop and we consumers need to expect better workmanship, no matter how little or how much money we spend on merchandise. The companies set the price, we agree to pay their desired price, companies need to provide working and durable merchandise to a customer, no matter what they set the price at! And, this is especially true of powered machines, not for the fact that we spend our money at their store alone, but also for SAFETY REASONS!!!!! The assembly of this mower was easy and fast. Great, I was pumped up and ready to mow my yard! I plugged it in (YES I BOUGHT THE RIGHT CORD FOR IT), turned it on, and right off the mower didn't sound nor behave like the "power machine" other reviewers claimed. But, it was mowing sufficiently enough to do somewhat of a good job on the highest height level. Then, the mower sounded like it was starting to bog down and wasn't cutting the grass as well as it did in the beginning. Suddenly I smelled the putrid smell of burnt rubber and immediately turned the mower off. When I turned the mower on its side to get a look underneath to see if it was clogged up (which it wasn't), it began smoking a lot. I immediately unplugged it and ran into my house to grab my iPhone so I could take a video of this mower smoking and post the video here to let future customers see this mower in action before purchasing it. All this happened in about TWO MINUTES after I turned the mower on!!! Bottom line...I want a total refund!!! I want my money back for this piece of junk mower and I want the shipping costs to be paid by the company or Amazon, to get this thing sent back to where it came from. Cause, I don't want to have to pay for a garbage bill to get this thing gone! Yep, I'm furious....you can bet on that! ... show more
