I was super nervous about getting this engraver. I have experience with the bigger name brands and it was a mess and waste of supplies. Wainlux did not disappoint. It took me a few to upload drivers and program to my computer but it’s fairly self explanatory. The best part is that it will shown you exactly where it plans to cut so you can position your item as perfectly as you can. For the price I paid it more than excelled in what I wanted and needed. The program it self is simple and I do need to make some designs in another program or app and the upload the picture. The large monogram showed up pixelated on the program but when it engraved was smooth lines and nice detail. While this is portable, please please use it in a well ventilated area with a fan near pulling the air away. Because it is portable I am able to take my work to the porch and easily work on it there. The mobile app…. Is less useful. Mostly because it won’t preview, meaning show the exact area where the laser with engrave; so boo for that. As for height adjustments, I bought some not jenga at the dollar tree and glue heights I needed and it works fine~ The work area is small but if you are new and just need something to learn on and eventually keep for quick small projects this is definitely worth it. Engraving time… about 5-8 minutes on my pens. And the big monogram with is nearly the full working area for the laser…. About 2 hours. Yes it’s a bit of a long time but considering that I couldn’t get the name brand to do this nice and smoothly, I’m more than happy with the times. I am primarily working on bamboo, and the color of the engraving will vary on the wood, but each is well done and nicely finished. So if some engraves look lighter or darker , it simply the wood itself. I was worried about people not liking it, but most people were so happy getting a personalized item, they didn’t remark on burn variance. I hope this helps you if you really want an engraver but don’t know where to start. While the engraver isn’t exactly plug and play, considering cost and the fact you don’t have to have a subscription to use the program, I find it more than balanced in the work I have to do manually and what the engraver accomplishes.     • Doesn't engrave
Software was loaded, took awhile. But the machine does not engrave. Tried reaching support, online chat not available, suggested that I email my questions..no response it's been 4 hrs. Will return if haven't been helped by end of day and the problem gets resolved. Nice little machine too bad it doesn't work engraving or cutting. ... show more

UPDATE (6/2/23) A few weeks after my original review, I received a reply via Amazon asking for details of the problem and offering to ship a replacement free of charge. I worked with Mavis from Wainlux, and she sent me a replacement as well as asked for videos of the problem to do some QA. I was impressed with the communication (eventually over WhatsApp) and interest in actually fixing the issue with the product, so I have upgraded my review to 4-stars. I have used the replacement engraver for about 20 hours now without issues. Thanks Mavis! As a side note, I read some of the other negative reviews regarding the software, and have to say I disagree. I use the iPhone app exclusively to work with this engraver, and it’s very easy to use and convenient. Etching and engraving takes some practice, and beginners shouldn’t blame hardware or software for their lack of experience. Old Review ************* I loved the idea of a small laser engraver, and the 3watt power of this one is enough for small crafts. After using it successfully for about 40-50 hours over 6 months, the positioning mechanism (a screw drive) started to slip on both x and y axis. I registered a support email through their website and haven’t heard back in two weeks now. I would give 4 stars, but the lack of support and quality of the equipment is brining my rating down. ... show more

    • You get what you pay for
If you are looking for an entry level laser engraver, this is a choice. I did not say best choice because I don't have the time, patience, or budget to try other ones, so I have little comparison. PRO: Excellent price point. CONS: (1) The user manual is one of the worst examples of a user manual that I have ever seen. Font is very small and the graphics do not match what you see. Also, according the description of the product purchased on Amazon, I bought the K6 Pro - the manual does not indicate that and identifies it as a K6 (there are two different models, according to Wainlux) (2) No "discussion" of the different media and how those different media should be engraved. Is engraving paper the same as leather? How about wood? What if the surface is not exactly flat (slightly rounded like a flask or cup OR completely round like a wooden pen barrel). (3) If you click on Product Support, you are taken to a different screen that has a link to a video about focusing the laser. How about a description about placement of media so that the laser doesn't "miss" the media? (4) The phone app is even more bare-bones. I will close by saying that while it is at a nice price point for beginners, there isn't much support on how to get it to work. Not plug and play, if you have no previous experience. ... show more
