  • Great Little Machine
The media could not be loaded. This is the second piece of landworks equipment I’ve purchased (I also have their gas wood splitter). The assembly on this chipper was incredibly easy. It is super light and easily maneuverable. If I were slightly shorter it would be effortless to move around, but at 6’1” it is a little bit of a bend over to move it. Note that there is an off/on switch on this machine, my first attempt at starting it I couldn’t get the thing to turn over. After discovering the switch it turned over on the first pull. The splitter does not have a dedicated on/off, I really appreciate one being included on this machine. Performance wise it works with next to no headache. Won’t be chipping anything large but for clearing invasive shrubs/clearing brush from my trails this machine is perfect. ... show more

  • Quick and to the point
Easy set up. Uses regular 87 gas and you will need to put in 24oz of10w30 oil before your first start up. It’s not much bigger than a lawn mower. It can be wheeled around pretty easily. Generally gets the job done. Mostly does well with branches without the brush and leaves. The exit chute clogged up on me twice before I realized it doesn’t like smaller twigs and the smaller brushy stuff. Setting an expectation: This is not an industrial chipper. It is not super fast like the bigger chippers. It’s meant for smaller jobs and to its credit it will do well on this smaller stuff. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Great machine, *ONE ASSEMBLY WORD OF CAUTION*
I love this little chipper. It will chew up branches up to 3 inches, but if most of your branches will be that big, any chipper this size will struggle and you probably want a commercial machine. For branches 2 inches and under, it's a workhorse and will fly through them. I love this compact design, it's very easy to store. The discharge chute does a great job directing clippings into a wheelbarrow, no collection bag is needed. When you assemble, be sure NOT to take off the bolt and washer on the "engine side" that will anchor the discharge chute on. The instructions show it disaggregated, so I went so some length to get the bolt off. What followed was a three-hour epic trying to get the bolt back on, because the heat shield was in the way and I couldn't get the bolt back in the hole. The discharge chute is built in a way to allow you to slide the discharge chute over this engine-side bolt **with the bolt still on**. Learn from my pain :-) If by chance you do remove this bolt, removing the heat shield is the only way I could figure out to get the bolt back in. This required an impact driver, as the heat shield was anchored down very firmly. ... show more

  • I can't get it to start. tried everything
This thing is awful. I had trouble getting it started when I first got it. Switched out a bunch of the parts and keep trying and it won't start. I made sure that all the knobs were in the start position and cracked for 20 min and it just won't start.

  • Worth the investment
to help recover after a big storm, this chipper really made the job easier and was not that hard to assemble. It does what it says it will in it’s description and it is not taking too much room in my garage.

  • Strong, light weight, and effective -- but very weak bolts
This is my first chipper, so I have no basis for side-by-side comparison. That said, I am quite pleased with its performance. I chose this model because of its low price ($349 including shipping -- it has gone up significantly since), lower weight than other models, and because its exit chute feeds chips up into the cart pulled by my Lawn Tractor. It was straightforward enough to assemble, except for one major issue. The feed chute connects to four bolts that are welded to and extend out of the blade housing. The problem occurred when one of the four metric nylon-lock nuts got hard to turn about half way down. When I backed off the nut to check, the tip of the bolt reamed off! That should not have happened. I am guessing its threads were damaged, causing the nut to seize, but that bolt is either inferior material or else got damaged by the welding process used to attach it to the blade housing. As it turned out, there was enough of the bolt left to hold a thin lock washer and non-locking metric nut (after I took a small file to fix the bolt threads). My only other alternative was to box up the whole thing and send it back, which I was reluctant to do after I had the whole thing mostly assembled. That turned out to be a good choice, since the chute is holding fine and the chipper works well. I have used the chipper for a total of ~20 hours to deal with branches (I don't use it for leaves). The motor is very strong, starts easily, and chews through 2 inch branches with ease and a ~3 inch branch with some pushing and turning. It works better to feed one branch at a time. It is very loud, so I always use hearing protection. This model is recommended, but do take care to examine the bolt threads before you connect up the chute. Update: Bad welds. What else could go wrong? After using this chipper once or twice a year for five years, the rotating disc that holds the chipper blades came apart inside the unit because all of the welds failed between the blade holder disk and the collar that mounts it onto the engine shaft. It was so loose I could remove the blade holder disk by hand (the collar still firmly bolted onto the shaft). And even though this model is still offered, I could not locate any LandWorks replacement parts (very big negative). Therefore, my LandWorks chipper is now just a noise maker. Its engine still works well, so I will try to sell it to someone who wants to re-weld the rotating disk and get it going again. Pity. So I bought another different style chipper where the branches feed into cutters located on the edge of a rotating drum instead of cutters located on the side of a rotating disk. From that I can tell, the rotating disc style is associated with the mulching of leaves, but the rotating drum style works better for chipping branches. LandWorks offers both styles, but based on my experience with them I went with the EFCUT company because their website has replacement part numbers. Since GardenBeaut (green) and EFCUT (orange) models are identical except color and price (both have the exact same replacement part numbers), I went with the less expensive GardenBeaut model. This new chipper is truly a beast that easily rips through large branches and produces much larger wood chips than I was getting with my different style LandWorks chipper. ... show more

  • Chipper doing the work.
I have had this since late 2022 but just started using it for real this week. I have been mainly chipping dry cedar limbs. 80% cedar but misc other stuff except hedge. Havent tried hedge yet. I try to stay at 2" max. You can tell when it is not worth the effort so i just dont try anything bigger. Ran for about 4 hours without clogging. Then i tried some fresh cut cedar. Fresh cut cedar with leaves still green clogged up the chute on time. Then i started paying closer attn and realized if you catch it when it first starts to clog you can easily hand remove the chips from the chute and i started feeding slower. Was even able to grind the fresh branches. It does not use much gas either. ... show more
