  • Surprisingly Powerful
Easy to put together. Took less than 15 minutes. As long as you are selective with appropriate debris size, even if it appears to bog down a moment it will push through. Even small sticks. It's relatively easy to clear any clogs as well. Be sure it's off first, of course. If you have a need for something that is effective for leaves and small twigs go for it. The resulting debris is also nice and minced up small. ... show more

  • Lots to assemble but shreds dry leaves well
We have lots of leaves in our yard in the fall due to our lot being lined by mature trees. In past years sweeping them up, the pile at the street has been the length of a school bus and tall as I. So we have the leaves to give this a work out. Assembly takes a while, lots of little bolts and pieces to connect. Directions are decent. The pieces are heavy or cumbersome so having a helper could be beneficial. We blow a pile of leaves up that was about 30’x20’ and mid-thigh deep to try this out. (You can see the outline of the size in one of the pics). I fed them through the shredder and ended up with a fine output that takes up much less space. That pile fit into a 130 gallon leaf bag when I was done (also in a picture). It took about an hour to feed that through the shredder. The little catcher bag needs emptied often, if you don’t the shredder backs up and stops popping the circuit breaker. The shredder doesn’t like sticks of any kind, the claim of 1/2”, yeah that is going to give this fits. It can handle the little twiggy stuff that may join a few leaves together but nothing more. It is solid, heavy unit. It will roll when leaned over far enough. Otherwise it is stable on its legs. Running it is loud, but not to the point you can't communicate with your partner. I feel my tractor is louder. To use it you plug in and if you want attach the collector bag to the teeth on the bottom and then flick the power switch. If shred leaves about as quickly as you can put clumps into it. After we shredded the pile we talked about the process. We agreed it worked easy. We don't think it saves time from using a tractor and sweeping up the leaves, but the shredded leaves are easier to dispose of. Like if we still have leaves after the town has finished pick ups already. I would get this again after getting a chance to use it. ... show more

  • Competent Mulcher But With Flaws
Overall, this is a very competent piece of gear for mulching accumulated leaves in your yard. I have a large property with many trees, so I needed something that could do more than what you generally get from big box store options. Assembling the unit was straightforward and took about 20 minutes. The supplied power cord is not designed to be useable on it's own, so you'll need an extension. The instructions warn this should not exceed 50 ft. I used a 100 ft extension for my backyard. It worked but I did notice serious power loss, just as was expected. This thing will make short work of dry leaves. You just feed them in at a moderate pace and it does the rest. I ran it for several hours to clear my yard of last years leftover leaves without issue. You do need to be careful what goes into the chute. While rated to handle branches and twigs up to 1/2 inch thick, these will seriously bog the machine down and, in some cases, cause the protection circuit to trip. You also need to be VERY careful to keep your face and body parts away from the chute as it has no mechanism to stop items from being forcefully ejected. I found this unit to be an overall pleasure to use with a couple of exceptions. 1) I did expect it to be a bit more robust. You have to feed leaves fairly slow or you can overload it. The chute's appearance might suggest it can handle more than it actually can. 2) The wheel design is beyond poor. For a machine the manufacturer knows will need to be dragged across potentially rough terrain, real tires should have been used instead of the stamped plastic wheels here. If you're a homeowner like me with a larger than normal yard, filled with trees, I think this will do a decent job for you. If you're a commercial customer or want best-in class performance, I'd probably look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Electric mulcher
This is an easy to use and easy to set up electrical leaf mulching machine. Really nice for mulching up leaves to take up less room and be easier to bag. Really well working and it’s not too noisy, durable well working machine in my opinion.

  • Good for leaves and very small twigs
This mulcher and shredder seems well made of thick metal and seems like it could be capable of chopping up the claimed "dry branches and twigs up to 0.5" thick". However, it doesn't really work for branches that thick. Maybe if they're so dry they're ready to fall apart, but not your average 1/2" twigs that would fall during a wind storm. This means that you can't really just feed everything that falls through it. The smaller twigs that are attached to leaves are fine but if you try to dump everything in there it'll just clog up. For what it is, it works well and mulches everything up nicely. Just set your expectations appropriately. The motor takes a lot of current at 15A and 1800W. Just be sure if you're using it with an extension cord that you've calculated the length and gauge required to safely operate with this much current. Overall it's a decent mulcher for leaves and small twigs. ... show more

  • Very well made
This is a light duty machine so I was expecting a light duty build quality but this mulcher is very well made. The metal is thick which makes the mulcher a bit heavy but it feels very sturdy. The blue paint looks to be powdercoat which is the strongest paint you can get for outdoor equipment like this. Assembly was not difficult but you do need the instruction manual to know the orientation of parts. The mulcher is not very quiet while on but I guess it is quieter than a gas equivalent. It has a flip switch to turn on and it also has a safety breaker switch that trips if you feed something too hard. I tried feeding the mulcher some thin branches and although it did mulch them, parts of the branches do get stuck. This mulcher works perfectly on leafs because the leafs are able to swirl around inside until they exit, wet leafs would get stuck though. Overall the mulcher does work great with leafs and the build quality is very good. ... show more
