  • One of the best purchases I've ever made!
Size: 2 TB Color: Charcoal Black
I realize it sounds like hyperbole, but this is honestly one of the best things I have ever bought. First of all, understand that you're not paying for the 2TB hard drive. You could buy one of those cheaper. You're paying for the Lamu system, and it's worth every penny and much more. I'm a reasonably organized person, but that doesn't apply when it comes to photos. I always just take the picture with my phone or camera, save it to the computer with whatever default name the device gave it, and then forget about it. After a while I have about zero chance of ever finding a photo again. This is especially frustrating when I know I have a picture of one of my friends or family, but when I need it I can't find it. So I bought the Lamu because I thought the facial recognition would help me sort out the mess, and it does - but it does SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT! I have an old computer that I don't use anymore, and I knew there were pictures on it that I had never uploaded to the cloud or transferred to my new computer, so I started there with the Lamu. It found 5,700 photos on that computer, scattered between user accounts and folders, filtered out the countless duplicates, and sorted them all by date, place, people, and even device used to take the pictures! I went through and identified a few pics of each face, and the next thing I knew I had hundreds of pictures of my wife, my kids, myself, and other family members and friends, and I could actually search and find them! As I said, it was a very old computer and it took Lamu about 18 hours to find and import everything, but I just made sure the power settings were set to never go to sleep, and I started it running and went about my business. The next day when it was done, I could not believe how well it had worked. Then I had it import from my phone - another 10,000 disorganized images, now perfectly organized by any means I want to find them! This is not only useful, it's incredibly fun. This could be a serious weekend hobby - tagging photos, building family trees (yes, it does that too!), identifying social networks (also automatic!), creating albums, sharing, and on and on and on. I had no idea how capable this thing was, but it's incredible. I plan to buy a bunch of them as gifts for my mom (who loves going through her old photos), my sisters, my mother-in-law, and others. I strongly recommend this amazing system! ... show more

  • Complex but Outstanding
Size: 2 TB Color: Sky Blue
LAMU is a sophisticated, complex, yet worthwhile photo organizing program if you have a large number of photos. You don’t have to be a techie to use it but you do need a lot of patience to navigate the myriad of sorting options it offers. It took many hours to download my thousands of photos but I could still use my PC during this process. This program is not for everyone so I didn’t give it five stars but now I have all my photos from the last sixty years (many scanned) in one place for review and safekeeping. ... show more

  • DON'T GO ANY FURTHER
Size: 2 TB Color: Rose Gold
I bought this from LAMU because of the small business nature of the software. I have been able to talk with him directly...no customer service call center when you are left on hold for hours. Luke is direct and know his stuff...he developed it. Once installed properly...I got ancioux and skipped a couple of steps when installing and Luke solved my issue right away. Now it works flawlessly. I can look at a world map an pick the places I want to view my photos...remember to leave your GPS etc on you camera, whatever kind you use. The photo ID for people work exceptional...It is so good that it picks up baby pictures for young adults and children 99% of the time. I have over 75,000 photos and it took a while to get my initial setup to use all of the organizational methods but once I ID'd all the family and fiends than it went to work. The price is absolutely the fairest for what you get is an exceptional buy!!! ... show more

  • DON’T BUY IT RIP OFF
Size: 2 TB Color: Sky Blue
I bought this even though I didn’t have a lot of money while I was home recovering for eight weeks from the surgery. I wanted to organize my photos. It took four days for it to supposedly download my photos, but then it gave me an error message when I went back in. I spent money I did not have because this was expensive but my husband wanted me to have it while I was at home. It is awful and it does nothing. ... show more

  • Customer service is awesome
Size: 500 GB Color: Charcoal Black
I could not find the drive where my pictures were after the first download and I emailed customer service at 9pm. I was not expecting an answer until the next day. Within 30 minutes, they answered with various alternatives and within minutes I was downloading my pics again. They even realized that I did not download the new manual with the update I did because I had the old one open, so they attached to the email a copy of the new one for me. This is above and beyond fabulous customer service. They were checking everything thoroughly from their end and put me up to day at that hour at night. I am super pleased. I have the confidence that if anything goes wrong, they will be there to fix it. The product is working great and this is the first time I have been able to organize my pictures in such an efficient way. I even found pictures, in the timeline, I forgot I had. I do scrap booking and this is a wonderful way of going back and printing pictures and doing new scrap booking pages for my kids. I even found pictures of their great grandparents! How cool is that! Get this, I am even leaving in my will who is getting the LAMU Portable Photo Organizer when I pass away. I know that my son can continue to put his past and future memories next to mine. The enjoyment of our great memories can continue for more generations. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to organize their pictures and preserve precious past and future memories. ... show more
