My wife has been using Preference for a number of years, most recently this L'Oreal Paris Superior Preference Fade-Defying + Shine Permanent Hair Color. Truly liking the Preference brand she tends to only not use it when she can't find a color she likes. Preferring a natural color, Preference usually delivers, though the last few months she's had a harder time finding a color (her previous one was discontinued), until this one. Having done this before I know how to do her hair. The Preference brand is easy enough to make up, following the steps as directed. I also have an easy time getting it in, my preference being to put the point at the bottom of the hair, at the roots, and mash that in, then pull it to the top and repeat. It spreads and mashes in easily and gives great coverage. Granted, she has shorter hair, but with care one could easily cover longer (though I cannot predict how long). The steps for the shower after are again easy and straightforward and within the hour-hour and a half the whole process takes, one comes away with a rich and warm hair color. This latest in a new favorite and one I think she'll stick with... as long as Preference doesn't do away with it. They seemed to go towards a lot less natural looks for awhile, but seemingly are coming back to more natural, and this one is great. In the end, we are still pleased with the L'Oreal Paris Superior Preference Fade-Defying + Shine Permanent Hair Color and the overall product. ... show more

Color: LB02 Extra Light Natural Blonde Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
This gives you great color. Unless you are doing fancy layers of color and highlights and so forth, I see no reason to go to a salon when products like this will give you good results for a fraction of the cost. This is easy to use if you follow the directions. The one downside is that it smells icky; that's why they give you a lovely-smelling conditioner to use when you rinse that will have your hair smelling like a rose when you dry it. To be fair, the decent-smelling box hair colors I have used don't provide the results this one does, so maybe it takes some stinky chemicals to do a good job. ... show more

I was trying to tone down brassiness in my dark blonde color. This gave me hair colored like Courtney Cox. with purplish highlights. Maybe left it on too long? Not sure what happened, I usually use L'Oreal 8.5 Light Ash Blonde, thought 8S would be same tonal family, just cooler and a bit darker. Got compiments at work for the dramatic change, I said I did it out of boredom with my color; but I have already ordered a different color to gradually lighten back closer to dark blonde. I'm not buying that crappy For Men Only shame product just because I'm male. Typical color choices: Brown! No!!! Okay, so, I tried Féria and no. Remember Blanche from the Golden Girls? She used Féria if that gives you the idea. No, I don't want to walk up to a cashier and have her scream in horror, YOU DYE YOUR HAIR!! But finding the right color for a dude is daunting. Everyone can see the Bob Barker face and they know you're cheating but, I wanna be Walter Mercado about it, you know? So, I was at 6AC or something and wow no. So, I went with 5. Heres'the thing.
