  • Finally, a boxed lift that works.
Color: Hyper Bleach Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I have tried many strategies to lighten my very dark blonde hair to the light blonde color it was in my youth. Most of them fall very short and do not lighten enough while leaving a lot of brass behind. I have disappointed in salons near my house as well. They don't listen the info I try to share and I end up with either very brassy, ashy or very red blonde color and am out $200 for it. My hair color actually has a lot of ash color from my mother's side and red from my father's side embedded in a blonde base that has darkened with every year since puberty to the point of being a very heavy, drab color. If the red and brass and ash aren't lifted evenly the results are not good. I know I am asking a lot here to deal with my freaky natural pigment but it's what I have to work with. I did have experience lightening and coloring hair successfully in the past before my hair had become as dark as it is now. After trying a few other lightening systems with poor results, I stumbled across this and something compelled me to try one last thing before pouring my wallet into new salons or just giving up entirely. It worked! I ended up with a pale butter platinum that will easily tone to the perfect shade. This is about the best one could hope for with my pigment density. My husband and daughter love it which is nice because they have to look at it even more than I do. My hair does not seem damaged and is soft. (I also tried the L'Oreal Ever Pure Glossing system on the 3rd day after lightening and the results were fantastic -- I have never had such shiny, silky looking and feeling hair) I did use a cap to trap warmth and promote full processing. This is a winner for me and I think at least worth a solid try for most. Some tips that you might already know but may be good reminders: Have a few hair clips and a parting comb handy Have a plan for organizing the hair in sections and working quickly Start on areas that have had residual color in previous lightening sessions as they may actually have more pigment and need more time. Leave the bottom 1/3-1/2 inch of the roots unapplied until about 15-20 minutes through the processing time. If hair is more than shoulder length or ultra thick have 2 boxes on the ready -- it is still a bargain compared to salon prices. If you do need 2 boxes, don't mix the second box until the first is used up so the mix isn't aging/losing power in the bowl/bottle. Put a coloring cap over the processing hair at the end of applying the mix (cold spots won't process as well as well as the warmer parts near the scalp and the cap helps even this out) Set your processing timer at the end of application for the maximum time (anything less may give uneven results) you can always add color/tone back in a day or two days later with a toner. Good luck! Finding the right stuff for each hair type can be a trying process. Hope you end up as happy as I am! ... show more

  • Work in sections!!!
Color: Ice Blonde Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Pros: Easy to use Hair felt very soft after use Definitely tones Long lasting (for 1-2 washes per week with warm/hot water) Fade out. The color has not fully faded, but as the brassiness comes back, it looks more like a natural blonde than a yellow blonde. Cons: Does not fully eliminate brass. It simply turned the yellow bits in my hair into a greige shade, but I didn't mind Darkens hair if it's already at a level 10. I started with level 10 white hair with a few patches of yellow. The white bits turned a silver color and the yellow a greige blonde. I personally loved the results but if you’re looking for a color that will turn your brassy hair white, this will not do it. Hair WILL overprocess if you do not work in sections. Meaning, if you’re doing your entire head, take the extra time to wait and rinse each section as you apply the color, or the first section will tone to a dark gray color by the time you’re ready to rinse your entire head - especially if your hair is bleached blonde and porous. ... show more

  • Safe for Pre-Lightened Hair !!
Color: R57 Cherry Crush (Intense Medium Auburn) Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
This review is long, but if you're truly interested in this color and worried about how it may take to treated hair (which I was, I had to hunt for a review on hair that was already bleached before and it was still much darker than mine) then I promise it's worth it!! A briefer review for people who do not care: good product, I found it easy to use (I put all of the steps into a bowl and used a mix of both a brush and my hands), it is messy!! I thought that was just some people being unprepared for how messy hair dye is, but it is a very thin formula that can splatter so easily. There are warnings on the top of the box when you open it to make sure you get all of the product out from each thing, and I did exactly that, so the end result (it was on for a bit longer than 25 minutes, maybe 45 at the most) is the two reds. One is wet, one is dry. I can't say anything about how long it lasts, because I don't really mind having to touch up that much, but do put a towel over your pillow for the first couple days after dyeing. Okay, so I've been bleaching and coloring my own hair at home (with help when needed) for about two years now, and I don't really use box dyes because I love the bright colors of Manic Panic dyes. I tried them for one color and it became my go-to. I've wanted to go to a dark red for a good while, but Manic Panic doesn't have any colors like that that I thought were close to what I wanted. If your end color goal is Lee Chaeryeong from ITZY (when she had red hair), stick with me because that was my goal, and I actually feel pretty happy with the result. My biggest concern when looking for a dye was the fact that box dye is kind of meant to be visible over dark hair. I have light hair, and I didn't want it to be super bright when that wasn't what my goal was. I'm literally ONLY leaving this review because of the fact that I couldn't find ANY that were over pre-treated hair! I found one YouTube review and I decided that that was my sign, so over two days I got the pink out of my hair and dyed it. If you're just looking to see if it'll work over bleached hair, it works perfectly fine (I'm pretty sure, my starting hair wasn't exactly blonde but it was light enough that I am so, so sure it'll work fine), but I did accidentally leave it on for a little more than the instructions say to! Okay, if you're still reading this (honestly I know nobody is but I do not care) and have a bright color you're changing from, this is what I'm here for. So I started with that bright pink in the picture where my face is halfway in frame, and then I tried some at-home color removal tricks to see if they would help; they didn't, so I resorted to shampooing two, maybe three times for long periods and rinsed with hot water. That's where you get to the pictures where I'm holding up the front and then showing the back- not good pictures, but you get the idea. The pink was clinging to the front pieces of my hair, but it had rinsed fine everywhere else, so the last stage of getting my hair prepped to have a dark (and not pinky) red was to use toner on my whole head. I actually don't remember what level of the Wella toner I used, but I think it was either a) exactly the one that people recommend online for blonde, or b) something really close. I left that on for the correct amount of time and rinsed with some still-pink and mostly kind of purple and grey toned hair, which was good enough for me because I just wanted no yellow undertones if possible. That picture is the one where my hair is almost purple and silver. The next two are the results, the wet hair is right after I finished getting the dye out of my hair and the dry one is right after waking up. I KNOW that that was a LOT, but I really need a lot of guidance myself, so if I can kind of help anyone else like that I'd like to try. OK bye ... show more

  • Ultra Ash Medium Brown - It's pretty good
Color: 5.11 Ultra Ash Medium Brown Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
My hair is (apart from all the gray) ash brown - which for some reason really difficult to dye convincingly. Up to now, I usually end up with a chestnut tone, which looks terrible. These guys actually seem to care about keeping the chestnut color out - the "ultra ash medium brown" color looks good, and it comes with some really blue shampoo and conditioner that is supposed to remove the chestnut further. The applicator is the best I've used with any hair dye so far. This one takes a bit longer than most (30 mins) but that's not a big deal. I really like how it looks and I think I'll stick with this brand for a while. I only just applied it today so hopefully I'm not speaking too soon. ... show more
