I have this on a 180 gal tank (72" across), and the actual light spans almost the entire width, providing good lighting even at the ends. I do not have any tops on this tank, so the light is suspended over the water, relying on the adjustable brackets to keep it dry. The light does sag towards the center, but I'm comfortable that it won't collapse into the water. Honestly, I wouldn't trust the brackets on anything wider than 72", once you extend them out, there is significant wiggle room, allowing the weight of the light to bend it down more and more. The 78" advertised is how far they will extend, but they will NOT support the light at that distance. The brightness is good for this tank, not great, but for the cost I'd call it a good value. Make sure you measure the total distance you need before ordering, and don't rely on the supplied brackets if that distance is much more than 72", but overall I do recommend this light for those on a budget but still needing a good solution. ... show more

I ordered the 72-84 inch upgraded, everything seemed fine at first; no broken box, scratches, or any visible damage like other reviews. The light looked brand new. When I got the whole thing set up it was missing the two screws for the support bracket (no big deal, not much of a difference anyway) and when it was put together I started to cycle through the light functions on the remote. First, the "ALL" function on the remote does nothing and is blank on the instruction paper for the remote. And second, every white LED on both lights did not turn on. I don't know if it's an issue with the remote (which I don't think it is because even with the FADE mode which cycles through every light the white lights didn't illuminate), or if someone forgot to solder the white LEDs but either way the white lights just did not work on the light I got and I am returning my order and hopefully getting a replacement that is fully functional and I will make another review with an update. ... show more

The light is ok. The light bows in the middle where to 2 pieces are placed together. It also has this huge cord that sticks out like an eyesore where the two lights are connected. Had I known this prior I wouldn’t have ordered it. I ended up Sticking a suction cup underneath it so it would prop it back up so it’s kinda straight now but seeing that connector cord is driving me insane. ... show more

I don't have a planted tank so for me the lighting is purely for aesthetics. This light definitely delivers. I can't get all techie about the spectrum and light frequencies and all that noise, all I can tell you is that this light makes my tank look like it's in HD. It is simply spectacular. I have a 72" 125 gallon aquarium and the light spans it perfectly. I have tops on my tank so putting a small piece of the styrofoam packing in the center to prop up the sag in the middle works just fine. It's a lot of fun to experiment with the different light colors and combinations but I have resorted to using the default 8AM timer setting and it is everything I want and need. This light fit the bill, and then some. The light fit near perfectly on my standard size 55-gallon tank. The real surprise came when I turned it on. It was stunning; the light was crisp, clear, and bright. It put the old fluorescent lighting to shame. I don't even care about the blue/night light mode like the fact it is easy to use . A toggle switch on the cord allows for easy switching between blue and white mode. I like it so much i am going to by another one for my other tank. Great replacement to an older type light I was using . It was time for an upgrade since i can no longer find bulbs for my other model . I will remove again if any issues .
