Great idea! This body suit has saved my home from total destruction. My Golden Retriever recently had surgery and was sent home with a cone. After a day and a half of her sweeping everything off the coffee table, running into door frames and knocking things over, I searched Amazon for an alternative. I bought 2 of these suits and they are a perfect replacement for the cone. She seems comfortable and she isn't trying to chew or lick her stitches. However, I bought an XL for a 56 pound puppy who's back is 24 inches long. It seems a bit short from neck to tail, but otherwise fits good. My dog would slip out of come at night no matter how tight I put it on him. He was very disoriented when the cone hit random objects while he was walking around. I’m so happy I found this alternative! He can’t get out of it and it was very comfortable. It’s was high quality and a great investment. Note: it’s not water proof. My dog got neutered and this helped when I needed to wash the one the vet gave me. It is a bit big but my dog is 6.6 lbs, it's cute and soft. He seemed to do better with this one over the one the vet put him in. I got a xs for my dog and it was a little baggy because he needs a smaller size. Our beloved Gus had emergency abdominal surgery. He almost didn’t make it-septic stomach from the evil cheatgrass. For those of you in Oregon-Dove Lewis surgeons and staff saved his life! I have no idea why this is not written in all TAKE HOME DOC's post spay surgery. Instead of those awful lampshades for 14 days post spay for my little YorkiPooh, she gets to wear this soft, cute little snuggly and seems to be 100% fine with it. She does not even try to remove it. She was miserable with that plastic lampshade. Now she has a perk to her walk. I did need to watch the video 3 time to sort out how to hike it up so she can do her biz. But once you get that, it's such a clever design. THANK YOU TO THE PERSON FOR INVENTING this! It makes the 14 days less stressful for all. Already washed it 3 times. In great shape. Omg! If you have a female dog that is getting spayed or is recovering from abdominal surgery, you should buy one of these “dog onesies” as we called it, lol! Our female dog was recovering from being spayed and she absolutely hated wearing the cone of shame. She couldn’t get comfortable while wearing the rigid plastic cone on her head (first time wearing a cone) and she was miserable. After about the first 45 minutes of wearing the cone we realized we needed to look into other options for our girl to be able to recover comfortably. The vet had mentioned that our dog could wear a body suit instead of a cone, if she would tolerate it. At that time of loading her into the car to leave the vet, we sort of laughed and didn’t pay much attention to it. I mean, who has ever heard of a body suit for a dog? Well, it was not long and we were searching the internet for just such a suit. We felt bad enough that our extremely high energy, young playful pup was dealing with recovery from surgery, and the many restrictions that she would have to accept, temporarily. She is so energetic and playful, always jumping around the house, inside and out, and always with a toy in her mouth. Toys are such an important part of her daily life/ routine , and we had to take them all away for about 14 days. The vet told us we had to remove all toys that would encourage excitement and jumping/ playing , in order for her to completely heal without any complications from stitches coming open. Our dog had to take doggie downers (prescription that made her less active) to help keep her calm and more relaxed. Even still, keeping her calm and quiet/relaxed was very difficult. With her wearing this “doggie onesie” however, she was finally able to fully relax to sleep. She could not get comfortable enough to fully relax while wearing the cone of shame. While wearing the onesie, she could lick the fabric, but not get to her actual stitches. She excepted the strange new concept of wearing dog clothing and never tried to get it off by herself. Maybe part of this is because we constantly made over her and how cute she was in her dog onesie, lol. The material is very soft and stretchy, just like human baby onesies, lol. The Velcro closure is very strong and secure, yet also very easy to undo and refasten. As you can tell by some of the pics I added to this review, the onesie (Aka dog recovery suit) we purchased did not fit our dog perfectly, because our dog is a mixed breed with a longer body. Our dog is about the size of a full grown Labrador, but taller and longer bodied. Her nickname is stretch, because she the size of a Lab with about 7 inches in length, stretched out in her body. As a result, part of the time her lower neck/ almost shoulder area exceeded past the head opening of the dog suit. Thank goodness for the very stretchy fabric. The dog suit did not fit her perfectly, but it worked and we got through the 2 weeks of recovery. This purchase/item was one of the best things we have bought off Amazon. It did what it was supposed to. It aided in a more comfortable recovery for our dog, not to mention help us to keep our sanity during the process. I highly recommend buying this product if you ever have to get your female dog spayed. Also, I think it might be a good option for female dogs to wear while in heat, to help keep your house cleaner. Could probably work as sort of a dog diaper in that situation. Note: When your dog has to go potty and/or poop you really need to undo the Velcro closure and either roll it up and back (on top of their back) and refasten Velcro holding the fabric out of the way , or , remove onesie temporarily and then put back on. You may want to consider purchasing two of these. That way if one gets dirty or yucky you can wash it in washing machine (recommend air drying) and still keep one on your dog while they are in recovery. ... show more

used post-castration. fabric is soft, garment seems comfortable for him, relatively easy to use when he had to eliminate. runs small in length—got an XL for my tall lean 73# golden retriever. circumference was generous, but it kept slipping down low on his neck to his shoulders. used a clip to take a tuck in the neck hole to keep it in better position. it would be better to have bought two, as he could not clean himself when wearing it, and it got soiled in the prepuce area pretty quickly. would definitely recommend as an alternative to an e collar! ... show more

This little surgery suit is currently being used and it’s so much better than the cones. My little girl got spayed. Easy to undo for my pup to go outside.
