    • I use this more than I intended.
I bought this as a secondary metal detector for beach vacations. A recently new hobby of mine is metal detecting. Another hobby that makes my wife question her decision making.. I intended to "pinpoint" as the name the name of product suggests. It works very well. I won't hold it against this product for not finding anything on the beaches of North Carolina (my bigger metal detector didn't find anything either). I was successful in finding a rusty nail that, if I had to guess, was dropped when the beach access boardwalk was recently replaces. No treasure chests were located on this trip. I've also used this to find screws I have dropped in the grass, as well as other small metal objects. It also works very well finding screws in piles of sawdust. It is good for any number of other metal location related tasks I have used this for as wwll. I would very much recommend this as a good metal detector that work well when trying to pin point the location of a missing or unknown metal item, regardless of size. Bonus: they provide you with a belt holster, or a lanyard holster, if you're in to that sort of thing. I have not/do not intemd to use those but they appear to be up for the challenge of their intended purpose. ... show more

I bought a metal detector and this pinpointed in hopes of finding my property markers underground. The metal detector got me in a general area but this pinpointer…wow! It quickly told me exactly where the markers were. Not within an inch…EXACTLY where. It’s incredibly accurate and easy to use.     • It Found My Ring!
My wedding band can off while working in the garden, which is full of leaves and ground cover plantings. It could have taken me a long time to have to clear out all the leaves and search for the ring through the plantings, and if I stepped on it, it could get covered up. So I decided to try this inexpensive metal detector, and it located my ring, which was not buried, pretty easily. I would certainly recommend it for this type of search. I first practiced with it around the house, and it located hidden metal pretty easily. One problem - initially I could not turn it on, and I am pretty adept with tools. I tested the battery, which was fine. I pressed and pressed the on/off switch, to no avail. I was ready to return it, and at the last minute, I was finally able to turn it on pressing down on the switch with 2 thumbs. ... show more

    • Cheap, but works great!
So I just started into the hobby of metal detecting. After dropping $500 on a detector plus a few hundred on other accessories, I didn't have the $$$ for a top of the line pinpointer but I soon realized that I needed one. This is fairly cheap and it seems to go through batteries faster than expected...but I didn't keep track of the usage hours. It is NOT waterproof. The only thing I don't like about it is the waterproof bag. It does work, don't get me wrong, but it's somewhat awkward when it's on. I also don't think the bag's tip will last very long. One piece of glass or a sharp rock will end it quickly. After that I'll have to use a heavy duty ziplock bag or something if I haven't saved up enough for the one this is a clone of. It's great for the money, but it's got no frills either. Update: after having this for 34 days, the rubber part of the on/off button just disintegrated and fell into the handle of the pinpointer. Now there's a hole in the side of it that dirt can freely enter as well. This is clearly defective and should be replaced. I can't seem to find a way to contact the seller yet, but the warranty should definitely apply. ... show more

    • Simple but not as strong as advertised
Bought this to detect bird shot when cleaning ducks/geese that Ive shot to protect my teeth and my meat grinder. Seemed to work pretty well at first and did help find some BBs Id missed when the bird was still whole. I vacuum packed what I thought was metal free goose meat. I ran it over to double check getting it out of the freezer. Bag was less than 3/4 of an inch thick. Detected something and I opened the bag up, shifting where the BB was, and could not locate it at all with the wand in the pile after. Figured it was a false positive somehow. Ran through my meat grinder and two BBs popped out. With them in my hand I tested how far away it needed to be to set it off. Advertised to ~3.5 inches. It had to be less than half an inch before it would start to register. Sensitivity leaves much to be desired. Still it is easy to use. Guess Ill have to spring out a little more for my situation. ... show more

    • Works good
Have had this probe for about 2 months. I have only used it a few times, but will update after more use, and since it is summer, that will happen soon. My initial impressions so far are all good. It feels like it is solid built, and the plastic feel pretty thick so it will take quite a bit of abuse and scraping and poking before the plastic gets dinged up. The sound volume is loud, and the vibration is is pretty strong. The one thing I did notice is that the power button is pretty tough. It takes a bit of power to press it in, perhaps this will loosen up with use. instead of a button that turns it on and leaves it on, I would rather see a trigger or push button that turns it on, and it turns off when you let go. Pin pointers are only used for 10-20 seconds usually, so long pressing on and long pressing off every time you want to use it might become a pain rather fast. After I get some more use in on this item, I will update this review and see if my concerns are correct or not. ... show more
