Not a crate pad. Does not fit flush in the bottom of a crate. Just asking to be chewed up this way. Will be a pain to return since it came in vacuum sealed packing. It expanded fairly quickly believe in 2 hours. She lays on it now.. Our heeler is not one for fluffy beds so guess she will just have a pad. This gray and star mat is well made, very soft and durable. It is much thicker than I expected based on other reviews. My puppy, who loves to dig, has not made a dent into it. Unfortunately I gave the seller a negative rating because of the sizes. They did not load properly onto my page and I thought I was getting the largest one when I was getting the next down. This little mat is great. Fit perfect in the cage I have to keep my pup in, it is super soft in one side (I actually love it), the other side is nice as well, and well my pup actually likes it so much he pulls it out of his cage and ‘sets it up’ wherever he feels like laying down. As for durability I guess it just depends on your pup. First day I got it my pup bit into one of the corners and well now it’s torn and holy. Although, I have to say that it’s not ‘coming apart’ where he bit into it, so the reason for the 4 stars. Other than that I feel that this works great for every day especially the way this little guy treats it! ... show more

    • Great Bed! But Don't Buy If Your Pup Shreds!
My dog LOVED this bed. He would put himself to bed at night with this thing, and sometimes chill in there and watch me work instead of curling up on the rug at my feet. I loved it for the ease of keeping it clean and its good looks. But do not buy if your pup is prone to shredding. Mine didn't typically do this, even when we crate him. But a couple of weeks ago, he had a fit because we crated him for about 30 minutes during a contractor visit. He's been without a bed since. He has never been bothered either way whether there was a bed or not in his crate. Now he hardly wants to go in there anymore. ... show more

These aren't thick, plush, which is perfect for my dogs (shepherd & lab). I love the 2 diff sides, one for warm weather, one for cooler weather. I have the bed in their crates, fit perfect. I wish there was a pillow around the border, however it's my preference not theirs. I have purchased other beds in the past, I don't like spending a ton in case of accidents. With these beds they are a little more than I like to spend however it seems to be a going rate, plus their bed size is a bit harder to find. I recommend for a basic bed, no frills, nothing special, just a simple bed for my easy-going pups. ... show more

    • Just what I was looking for!
My puppy seems to not love unstable surfaces - he won't touch the big bed I bought him and doesn't stay on the couch for too long. I wanted something that would pad his crate but wouldn't be so tall to make him uncomfortable. This is exactly what I was looking for. This is NOT a full-on memory foam dog bed - it is somewhere between that and a rug (think of like a really thick, nice kitchen sink standing mat - with fuzz). It IS thick enough to seem to provide some comfort! My pup seems to like it in his crate and I like that he's not just sleeping on nothing. The fact that it has two different sides is a HUGE, unexpected plus. We live in AZ, so I've been using the cool-side at night. He loves to snuggle up on the warm side during the day. Overall - if you know what you're looking for, and this is it, I would wholeheartedly recommend. I will end up buying a bigger size of the same mat once I upgrade my puppy's crate size. We love it!     • Nice but not durable for diggers.
I like these crate mats for their looks and the two sided use. Have not needed to wash yet so I can’t comment on that. If you have a dog that digs or has temper tantrums it will not hold up. I have one dog that digs in his when he’s mad! So his is torn and the foam cushion missing some chunks! The other one looks great! ... show more

We got the XXL and it fits the 48" crate perfectly. Not overly thick but is plenty cushioned and stays put in the crate as opposed to a regular dog bed. It's been in the crate for over 2 months now and is holding up great . If he decides to chew it we would absolutely order another.
