I've used Koblenz in the past and ordered this one to clean the carpets in my house. I find it much easier to use a garden pump sprayer with diluted shampoo, then using the attached tank. Highly recommend this unit

First let me clarify my following statements. I used to own a machine similar to this many years ago, It had the Kenmore brand on it. I would have given it 5 stars except for the following two reasons. 1) Attachment points for the brushes should be made sturdier 2) Attachment materials and method for the buffing and scrubbing pads are of lower quality than I would have liked. 3) The included buffing pads are kind of flimsy and synthetic foam back stuff. Low grade. I put the machine together and started scrubbing floors. Everything worked very well as I remember the Kenmore. I stripped the old wax off of the floors and put down fresh wax. Looks great. I strongly recommend the machine based on initial experience. No problem with dispensing solution. Plenty of power to scrub. Very pleased over all. I used my scrubber again today. I scrubbed my kitchen floor and put three coats of high gloss wax down. Everything looks great. The only thing that I have found at all disappointing about this machine, the accompanying scrubbing pads. They are okay but not great. After using them to my bathroom and then my kitchen one of them the whole is stretched out and I will have to get another set. Having had experience with a similar machine one of the things I've noticed with people complaining about the unit scrubbing oh, I think it's because you're not wetting the floor enough. I am not talking about carpet. I am strictly talking about hard surface floors. You need to make sure you have plenty of solution down before you even turn the machine on. What I do when I'm all set to begin scrubbing I pulled the trigger to dispense solution and let it run for about 30 seconds or so and then I turn the unit on. I don't let up on the trigger or the solution release until I have a good amount on the floor where I am scrubbing. Another thing you can do to improve your results is to keep a bucket of clean hot water and an old-fashioned stranded mop nearby. Do not let the dirty solution dry onto the floor! If you do that it will stick and you'll either have a dirty spot or you will have to scrub that area again. When I scrub I rinse my floors with clean hot water three times. I let it dry thoroughly and then I apply the wax or whatever I need to put on the floor. This is what works for me. I hope this helps others that are puzzling over how to use this archaic old style machine to get a better experience and the four use of their machine. If you using a scrub pad or anything like that and it starts punching up your floor is too dry. That's the key. ... show more

    • Good for scrubbing, easy to assemble, but not quite there
Have been trying to find a good hard floor and carpet cleaner combo and have thus far been unsuccessful. I have ordered, tried and returned all of the reasonably priced consumer models--each for different reasons. The Koblenz is a solid machine, very easy to assemble, and the scrubbing brushes and carpet brushes are good. I tried this on both my carpet and kitchen floor. I started with the carpet, using the scrubbers and solution they provide specific to the carpet. I filled the solution holder full and started cleaning, pulling the trigger to release the liquid as I thought it was needed. After about 10 minutes of moving the carpet cleaner around the carpet, I looked down and the entire canister of solution was empty. I have an oriental carpet I was cleaning so I didn't notice how wet was it was getting but the spray and release mechanism didn't work and basically dumped all the liquid, saturating my carpet. I blotted a lot of it up. The carpet did dry and did look a lot cleaner so it worked, just not how I expected. I tried to fix the mechanism and changed scrubbers and cleaners to hard floor cleaning to try the machine on my kitchen floor but again, within 10 minutes of scrubbing my tile floor, the entire canister of cleaning fluid had dumped on my kitchen floor. The upside is that the scrub brushes, ease of assembly and use, and the light "floating" action of the machine when on are all great. The kitchen tiles and carpet were cleaner. The downside, aside from the machine arriving broken, is that there is no way to suck up the water from the tile floor after scrubbing so then one has to mop afterward. Too much work! I would love a machine like this one that also sucks up the dirty water into a separate canister. I tried the models that claim to do this, but they suck as you clean which doesn't allow enough water to get onto the floor to actually clean it. A machine should scrub first then have a mechanism to switch on to pull up the water. ... show more

    • Worked great on travertine and grout but watch for leaks
The travertine floor is in the kitchen (bad idea - I know) but it's very pretty when it's clean. The tile has a natural textured surface so I wasn't too worried about scratches. Just wanted it clean. The hard brushes did great to lift the dirt from the natural grooves and grout. Also used a Bissell floor cleaner to vacuum the dirty water and rinse the floor which worked much better than a mop. For tough areas, I let the solution sit for a while to soften the dirt and grime. The scrubber did all the work - no hand scrubbing the grout! I think the process probably stripped most of the sealer from the floor but its clean enough to seal again. The only negative - the tank leaked when I set it aside to the let water soften the dirt, but I'm willing to put up with a few leaks to avoid hand scrubbing the kitchen floor. ... show more

This thing works great on hardwood floors and on carpet. I am amazed!! It just crushes the home improvement store carpet cleaners. After cleaning carpets, they look like new. My issue is I got a few carpet areas to wet. Took a while to dry. But.......... it’s a learning experience. Have used it several times on my hardwood floors for polishing. It worked wonderful. Still needed to apply the polisher by hand but this machine made quick work out of the buffing side of things. Wish I would have bought this 30 years and 2 houses ago. ... show more

I have owned one of these for years! Mine was at my daughters (we share it) when my daughter in law found an area of mold in her camper. As it would arrive before we could retrieve mine. I got her one.. She had never seen one nor used one. Found that it a knees, elbow, hand saver. She could not believe how clean everything came. Use it on all kinds of flooring. Grooves clean carpets clean... If you can or do use a brush on it. Grab this cleaner! ... show more
