Kitchen Arm’s 29 in one Smart Bread Maker (KA-29) was the strongest contender in my choosing a bread maker. Last May (2021) I started a Bread Machine Bakers group on a local board (Nextdoor/Shearer Hills – great community resource) here in San Antonio, TX. My 7 year old bread maker was a yeast only machine. I needed something like KA-29 that could make and bake not only yeast breads but special breads like salt free, fat free, sugar free, low carb as well as non-yeast quick breads. KA 29’s extensive menu with detailed recipe instructions sealed the deal for me. KA-29 is a great bread maker of convenience. The machine will make a very good loaf start to finish once it has been loaded with all the ingredients. Most of us use a bread machine to have fresh nutritious bread without lots of chemicals. Bread made in the machine is cheaper than store bought. The recipes for the bread maker are specific. If they’re followed to the “T” you’ll have a good fresh loaf of bread. I’ve made over 90 loaves with the KA 29 and all had wonderful results. I’ve made white, French, whole wheat, potato, rice, low carb, and quick breads – banana bread, corn bread, Irish soda bread. Using KA-29’s dough program and you’ve opened window for creative bread making. I’ve made special breads, Mexican conchas, challah, French baguettes, batards, boules, hot cross buns, matzo, puff pita, Dresden Stollen, and Swiss Zopf. I’ve also made cookies, donuts, muffins, pastries, pretzels, and more. Are there cons to KA-29? Sure, just like any other appliance. KA 29 has no light. Most bread machines don’t. I use a simple goose neck LED lamp and the problem is solved. No yeast or fruit/nut dispenser. Not a problem for me but it is for some. No signal at punch down. That I think would be a great addition, as would the times of the punch down noted in the recipes and work flow. Here are the pros to KA-29. It’s not a one-show pony, but a dependable work-horse. KA-29 has a small foot print; it’s relatively light (how light is a stand mixer?), and easy to use and easy on the eyes. The recipes are extremely well written, with helpful tips following each. There’s even a blank “homemade" program (#29 )that you can fill and program for one of your favorite recipes. The KA-29 manual explains how to use the machine, how to measure, and some handy ideas on trouble shooting bread or technical problems. You have access to cloud recipe library, and even recipe assistance. Their custom service is very, very user-centered. KA-29’s loaf size, crust color gives you great flexibility. It’s a very versatile bread maker at a very reasonable price. KA-29 is the perfect bread machine for someone just beginning, as well as meet the challenges of seasoned machine bakers. Would I buy ii again? Absolutely. Would I recommend it? Yes I would. And I think I just did. You cannot go wrong with this bread machine. The opinion expressed is not that of the Nexdoor Inc. This was one of two we were closely looking at. This one with 29 built in options and option to create your own was the biggest plus in addition to having sourdough as an option. I haven't had this bread maker for long but let me tell you it is AMAZING! I couldn't wait to use it when I first got it but already had fresh bread I'd made with my 25 year old bread maker so I decided to go for the pound cake recipe it came with. I wish I'd taken a picture but it was a beauty despite the fact that I later realized I screwed up the butter measurements. It wasn't all that I was hoping for in texture being very dense but I can't say much since I screwed something up. For the flovor I did add some vanilla and almond extract that the recipe didn't suggest and I was happy with that addition. With some fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream it was still a very satisfying dessert. On to the bread making, I have made around 3-4 loaves of basic white bread so far, first with their recommended 1 1/2 lb loaf for your first loaf and it came out flawlessly. Next was a 2 lb loaf, I let it rise too much where it touched the window (ooops) it was simply needing to learn a thing or two with this certain machine is all. I could have easily adjusted the time but didn't think it'd rise so fast in the last 15 minutes before baking. 2nd loaf I added 1/4 t less yeast and that did the trick! Absolute perfection! I also made one of the two banana bread recipes. There's the more bread like and the more cake like banana bread recipes. I used the more bread like recipe. It came out beautifully. It was very crusty on the outside and soft light and fluffy on the inside. Unfortunately it wasn't really something I enjoyed. It was pretty much a slightly sweet white bread with not much banana flavor. My husband ate it happily but I prefer the more cakey versions of banana bread. I just didn't have enough eggs for that recipe otherwise I would have made that one. I will definitely give that a try soon. I've been wanting to try a few things before I gave a review but after tonight's pizza I just had to finally rave about this great machine. The dough was done in less than 2 hours, I had homemade marinara, and freshly shredded mozzarella to top it with and I couldn't be happier with the results. The ease of making two large pizzas for my family was shocking. I have so many things that I want to do with this thing I am just so excited to have it. I am a person who prefers big name brand products so I was hesitant to go with this machine but it had features that other ones didn't so I decided to give it a shot based on the great reviews and I'm very happy that I did. I can tell that the people that are standing behind this product are good people that care about their customers and will happily help asap if you need it. The directions are very clear and the tips they add are much appreciated. I've learned a lot simply from switching bread machines because of the information they provide. Overall this is a great product and I believe I will have many years of enjoyment using it. I so look forward to all of the creations this will assist me in making, and the ease and the time it will save me is just icing on the cake.
