It puts out a nice amount of heat and can warm up a medium sized room, but stays cool to the touch. I was worried that the vent was on the bottom, close to the carpet, but I ran it all night and the carpet stayed room temperature. Very happy with my purchase. Easy to set up, arrived earlier than expected. The flames and glowing embers look beautiful. I guess you can tell they're not real if you're trying, but the general effect is very cozy and real enough. The glass and metal door help the effect. The heater fan does make a low fan noise. It is soft and I find it relaxing. It's about the same level as our regular home heating vents. When the heat is off, you can hear a slight clicking noise. I needed a replacement for my very loud space heater for my apt dining/living room area, about 280sq ft. My last space heater worked, it was too loud and cost $100. I paid $80 for this electric fireplace and I'm so happy! I love the ambient glow from the fake flames, I love that it doesn't get hot on the top or sides but safe for my carpet/rug but still heats up my rooms fast. It's so quiet! I work from home full-time and no one can hear it on my conference calls or Zoom meetings. Also, my dogs love laying in front of it, like a real fireplace. 30+ day update: happy to report my electric bill is the same with previous space heaters. The item arrived in perfect working order and was as described. Also arrived earlier than expected. The fan is a little loud. Aside from that, it's a good product and pricing is comprable. Only assembly was to attach the legs. Customer service is great!

    • Serious Safety Issue - No Seller Resolution

Do NOT buy this product. After reaching out to the seller of this fireplace heater to ask them if it's normal for the heat to be so hot that it could burn the carpet or anything that it's sitting on, they tried to say it is normal because the vent is located at the bottom of the unit. This product is dangerous and a fire hazard. It will be reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission since they stopped their communications with me about the safety concern and that they don't think the unit I received is defective. The seller doesn't think it's an issue that you can't even put your feet in front of the unit without burning your feet. The only way to use this unit without burning the floor underneath is to place it on top of wooden blocks and wrap a board with aluminum foil to put under it. HORRIBLE! ... show more

The “coal” or “embers” have a nice strong orange/red glow, but the flames are very light and not very visible. I’m disappointed because I bought this wanting the fireplace look.

After reading other reviews before I purchased this product, I have to agree that the manufacturer needs to improve the attachment of the legs. One screw was in the hole for the leg assemble. We removed it and placed it in the appropriate hole so the leg hole was open. One hole for a different leg assembly was not open....no hole so that leg was attached with two screws instead of three. This is the only problem that I had with this product. I am looking forward to enjoying it for years. ... show more
