Description

Kero World is the brand trusted by millions since 1982. Quality materials and construction, along with a 2-year warranty, makes this heater brand a standout. The KW-24G convection style heater is a popular choice. It projects 23,800 BTU's of heat in a 360 degree radius to heat a large area. Also great for winter power outages and emergency situations as it provides both heat and light. The Kero World portable indoor kerosene heater is great for heating small to medium indoor spaces (up to 900 square feet). Matchless ignition makes this a convenient source of instant heat--without having to plug it in, either. The built-in 1.9-gallon tank gives you up to 12 hours of heat. The manufacturer recommends using only clean kerosene. Two-year warranty.--Josh DettweilerWhat's in the Box Heater, C batteries (2) Five Tips for Buying a Heater Choosing a space heater is a matter of sifting through a bewildering array of types, power ratings, and fuel sources. Let's break it down a little to make the process easier. What are the different types of space heaters? Radiant heaters emit infrared radiation that directly warms the objects in front of the heaters (rather than the surrounding air). If you only need heat by a desk or in a small section of a room, a radiant heater is quiet and will use very little power.Forced-air heaters use a fan to blow air that has been warmed by metal or ceramic heating elements. A forced-air heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but can be noisy.Convection heaters draw cold air from the floor; the air is warmed by heating coils and emitted from the top of the heater. A convection heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but also can be noisy.Radiators work by heating oil enclosed in a reservoir, gradually heating the surrounding air. If heating speed isn't an issue, you might want to opt for a radiator. These are extremely quiet and effective--perfect for bedrooms.Should I buy an electric or a combustion model? If you want a heater that will be available in emergencies, or that can heat areas larger than a single room, choose a "combustion" model--one that is powered by a gas or fuel like propane, kerosene, natural gas, or diesel. Which fuel type you choose depends largely on convenience and local availability. For example, diesel would be appropriate for a heater you take with you on long car trips. How powerful a heater do I need? Heaters are rated by BTU, which stands for British Thermal Unit (the amount of heat needed to heat one pound of water by 1 degree F). To find out how many BTU you need: Calculate the volume of the space to be heated by multiplying square footage by height. Multiply that number by 4 if your insulation is poor, 3 if it's average, or 2 if it's good. The resulting number is a ballpark figure for how many BTU you'll need.Do space heaters cost a lot to operate? As a general rule, electric space heaters are more expensive to use than combustion models. To ensure energy efficiency, a thermostat is a must-have feature for any heater. For radiant heaters, models with a 360 degree heating surface can heat larger spaces. If you need a forced-air heater, models with ceramic elements tend to be more efficient. Are space heaters a fire hazard? Space heaters are implicated in about 25,000 residential fires every year. To ensure proper safety, always follow the manufacturer's usage instructions and fill out the warranty card to receive informational updates from the manufacturer. Also, look for extra safety features such as an automatic shutoff switch that can shut down the unit if, for example, it gets upended. In addition, choose a model where the heating element is adequately enclosed within the unit.

  • Easy to use, quiet, cranks out a LOT of heat
Fairly straightforward to assemble, directions were clear. We had a cold snap and my furnace has been on the fritz so I couldn't trust it and bought one of these. Sure enough, coldest night of the year furnace finally dies. Popped this thing into the middle of my living room and it's been toasty warm. You can smell the kerosene but it's not bad. I'll put up with it for the comfort. I'm very glad I bought this. Once I get my furnace replaced this is going to heat up my workshop. Only problem is, I might need to open a window to prevent the shop from getting too warm. It seems to burn through about a gallon of kerosene every 16 hours or so at the setting I'm on... pretty efficient in my book. I don't think I'd want it for my primary heat source, as it does create some hotspots in your house (convection heat needs to be circulated)... but if you want an off-grid option that you can use in case of a heating crisis (no power, broken furnace, etc.) this is fantastic. Really happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Works but not as well as hoped
This is my first kerosene heater. I purchased this one primarily because of the price. I plan to use it in my un-insulated 900+ sq foot garage, or in the house if we loose power in the winter (as has happened in the past). The unit arrived quicker than the estimate, but the box had been crushed on on one corner pretty badly. Upon opening it up, one of the guards was somewhat bent. Just cosmetic and it all went together, but I was disappointed in FedEx for this. I purchased some good 1-K fuel from a fuel distribution company in town and added some kerosene additive. I then filled the heater up and let it sit for about 4 hours. I followed the lighting instructions and it would not light from the built in igniter. The igniter glowed but would not start the flame. I checked the provided batteries with my meter and they were at only at 1.3v so I replaced them to see if that would help to no avail. I then used the 'ignition via match' method and it lit immediately. I monitored it expecting the flame to get 'too big' after 5 minutes or so, but it never did. In fact, it never got more that just a 1/4 - 1/2" 'lick' around the edge of the burner assembly even at full. I called the provided number to ask about those things.. The very nice person on the phone told me she had one of those herself and she said she always lights them with a match as the automatic lighter is flakey at best. I also explained the flame situation and she told me to test the kerosene for water by drawing some from the bottom of the can and letting it sit in a jar for an hour or so and look for bubbles on the bottom or clear separation (only small micro bubbles on the bottom). She also said that as long as there was no smoke or kerosene smell, it was working correctly at that level. So I guess all the provided instructions about watching the flame height and other internet comments/videos don't apply to me? I let it run in the garage for nearly three hours. It is 41 outside but the temperature in the garage 5 feet way from the heater on a workbench only got up to 54. So it just won't heat up the 1000sq feet it says it will. Perhaps that is in an insulated space. It will be interesting to see what it can do when it is really cold. I have run it for a total of about 7 hours and used just under 3/4 of the tank. I went with four stars because it was the right price, it works even if not as well as advertised, and the help line people were very good. The picture shows the max flame size I ever saw after 3 hours . ... show more

  • A bit smaller
This kerosene heater is a replacement for an identical one we had for over 20 years. It is a bit smaller than the original, but not by much. Starts easily with just a button. Closes and turns off just as easily. Great value for the money. Very quiet, no smell when wick is clean. Not lightweight, cheap metal. ... show more

  • A great heater
This my second, call it a bit of insurance here in northern Minnesota. It provides great warmth in a pinch, and its ease of use is welcomed by the entire family.

  • Emergency Heat
This is the second kerosene heater I've had. Gave the first one to a family that their heater went out a few years ago. Bought this one to replace and it works great to heat up this old house.
