I was having an issue with Rats creeping along top of the brick wall in my back yard and onto the roof of my house. So, I thought I'd try these as opposed the tradition wood traps. First, I love the little reservoir for placing the bait. In this case peanut butter. I set the traps which were very easy to set up and placed two in different locations on two different brick walls.     • There really is a "Better Mouse Trap"!
The media could not be loaded. We live in a rural area where our property runs into a farmer’s field. We have a lot of critters that come into our property and hang out in exterior structures and often get close to the house. We have tried traditional mouse traps to catch these mice. They work ok for smaller mice, but for medium sized critters, the traps are just not big enough to capture them. I also do not like setting traditional traps as they spring off in my hand all the time or snap when I try to place them on the ground. The Kat Sense is super easy to use and has many nice features: 1) There is an easy-to-use bait hole on the bottom that twists out. Just pull this out, put it back in the space, twist and the bait is in! 2) There are no scary or finger numbing issues when setting the trap. Simply pull down the back lever and the trap is auto set, just like that. 3) Discarding of the rodent is clean and easy, no need to touch the animal. Pick up the trap, carry to your disposal area / can, squeeze to open that the critter falls right out. I don't worry about rodents making nests on the property any longer, and I am not petrified to set mouse traps anymore! ... show more

As some other reviewers have mentioned, the plastic tabs that lock the trap open (in the set position) break off after a few days of use, rendering the traps useless. I was using the traps two at a time. When the first one broke after a couple of days i assumed it was a fluke, until the second one broke one day later. As the traps broke, I rotated in new ones. The third one broke this evening, again after only two days use. Realizing that they have a serious design flaw, I checked the return policy. Unfortunately, the return window closed two days ago. So, I wish that I'd read the reviews here before i wasted my money on these traps. Take my advice and don't buy them. Just get a conventional old mouse or rat trap. At least they can last for years before needing to replace them. These traps can work before the tabs break off but the point is moot as they break so quickly. As some other reviewers noted, they will also frequently snap shut prematurely which can be rather frightening when they do that as you're trying to set them. I also had the mice steal the bait out of the trap several times without setting the trap off until i learned that you have to use some sort of bait that can be wedged into the bait cup so the mice have to struggle to remove it, eventually triggering the trap in the process. Otherwise they just walk up and eat all of the bait out of the cup without setting the trap off. Lastly, I paid twice as much for these traps over a competitor's version because they claimed to have stainless steel springs. In fact, the springs are coated with some sort of paint or other dark, opaque finish. I've never seen stainless steel coated with a finish before (why would one need to finish it if it's stainless). So, I'm assuming that it's not actually stainless steel, but it doesn't matter because the traps only last a couple of days before they're ready for the trash can. ... show more

    • Set off prematurely.
I have used this product for some time, however they set off prematurely within seconds, and there is no adjustment to trigger mechanism. Over 50 % failed within a couple days. I also had one that broke the lock arm, which is plastic. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

    • Nobody likes rats
Excellent rat trap but break quickly after several hits. You must be very careful setting the traps or physical harm will enter your life. Handle with any tool that allows you to set the trap fingers free. Bought them previously and the plastic eventually breaks. If the weather is windy you will lose the traps. ... show more

Good value and very easy to use, but the plastic catch that holds the trap open is easily broken. Once this pieces is broken, the trap is no longer able to be set. Two of the traps I purchased had this piece break off even though it did not get a catch. Seems to be very fragile design.
