  • I almost didn't buy this...glad I did
Size: 40.0"L x 30.0"W x 9.0"Th
I just received this and opened it in my basement because I was concerned that some of the reviews mentioned a strong odor. I in fact ALMOST didn't purchase this one because of the odor comments. There just the usual odor from vacuum seal plastic and new memory foam. I gave 4 stars for chew resistance because 1) my old girl is not going to be chewing her bed 2) Chew resistance depends on the item and your dog. I've seen big bully breeds eat through fire hose material! The one I received came with the bolster already installed. Rather than everything loading in from the bottom, it has a hidden zipper up top for access to the bolster should the cover need to be washed or the bolster replaced over time. The memory foam goes in through a separate bottom loading compartment. The memory foam is solid and firm. About 4 inches after having been opened and expanding for a few hours so it may end up thicker. As a Veterinarian I advise clients that with memory foam pet bedding firmness and bounce back are more important than thickness. I actually laid down in the constructed bed on my cement basement floor. I could not feel the cement. I purchased this for a 43 lb 15 1/2 year old Labrador with a serious spinal injury, and hind limb paralysis. I'm 5' 2" and weigh in at 110 lbs so I am confident that once this is fully expanded and my dog gives it a try it will be supportive and comfortable for her. My goal is to preserve blood flow, prevent pressure sores, and support her fragile spine. The material in the sleeping area is attractive and very very soft. The mattress has a plastic material cover that has a top and bottom side with labels to indicate. Pay attention! The top side is WATERPROOF. It is marked to indicate that it is the top side...the side that the dog will lay against. The bottom side appears to be more water RESISTANT. I think if a water bowl spilled and got under the bed for a length of time the water would be absorbed up into the memory foam through the lower side of the mattress cover. The mattress is protected from urine leakage and spills by the plastic top, however I recommend and will be using washable cloth "pee pads" under my dog's hind end to protect the bed and make clean up easier. The bolster area is covered in super soft material and is high enough to add security, comfort and neck/head support but has enough give to allow for proper cervical alignment. I usually wait a bit to do reviews, but so far I am pleased with this purchase and excited to see how it works for my dog. I'll be back after a few days of use with an updated review and this bed in action. One more thing: The toy is too small to be given to the size dog this bed (XL) would be purchased for. It also has a loose squeaker inside. The squeaker is a choking hazard if your dog likes to perform surgical removal on this type of toy and the whole toy is easily pulled apart and too small to be used by a medium or large dog. But I didn't;t buy the bed because it came with a toy and that is not how you should choose a dog bed either. Safety and comfort first. ... show more

  • The Chuck Norris of dog beds
Size: 35.8"L x 26.8"W x 7.9"Th
I originally bought this bed for my ONE (yes singular, we'll get to that in a minute) Husky, and to be honest, I didn't think it would last too long. She liked to chew...on everything. She had already destroyed another bed along with several blankets, so I didn't have too much faith that this bed would be able to defend itself from her ruthless husky destruction. Little did I know that this poor bed would have much bigger problems to worry about in its future. For the next few weeks I kept score, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The bed could definitely hold its own! Bed-1, Husky-0. So now fast forward a few months, and the bed is still standing, in literal PERFECT condition! I am in awe. Then...it happened. I found out that my girl was pregnant...with 6 puppies. During her pregnancy, she calmed down a lot and the bed got a well-deserved rest (it would learn to cherish this time later). Toward the end of her pregnancy, she began nesting...on the bed. She dug intensely and furiously, determined to dig a hole worthy of her coming puppies. Still it the bed was unphased. Finally, the joyous moment came, and all 6 puppies were here. At first, it wasn't too bad for the bed, with only the occasional microscopic amount of newborn puppy pee. But as the weeks went on, the puppies grew bigger and bigger...and so did their teeth. Now, on top of their need to relieve themselves literally everywhere, they began to develop an uncontrollable need to chew. They began to rain husky puppy destruction down on the whole house, including, you guessed it, the bed. Door frames-0, Husky Puppies-3. Bedroom Carpets-0, Husky Puppies-2. Socks-0, Husky Puppies-10. Shirts-0, Husky Puppies-6. They were relentless! No opponent could withstand their attacks. That is, except for the bed! You see, this bed, this bed is a champion! It's as if Chuck Norris took himself and created this bed in his image. The puppies unleashed attack after attack of pee and poo. They tore at it with their razor-sharp teeth, shaking their heads vigorously. But it was like the bed was invincible. It had an impenetrable shield. Husky nesting-0, Bed-Infinite wins. Puppy pee and poo-0, Bed-Infinite wins. Puppies razor teeth-0, Bed-Infinite wins. After all the battles this bed has won over the last several months, it came out without a scratch! It still looks brand new (see pictures)! The only thing I have done is washed and dried it. It is incredibly easy to take apart and put back together. When I did have to wash it, I only ever had to run it through a wash cycle once to remove any mess. Even with everything it's been through, there is not a single stain on the fabric/material, and none of it has ever frayed. It is the most durable material I have ever witnessed while still being SO soft! There have never been any strings that broke. The padding is very fluffy, and so far, has not lost even an ounce of fluffiness. It does not sink and create a "crater" where your dog lays. When I say this is a very well-made product, well worth your money, that is an understatement! I also have two other dogs (Husky and Mini Dachshund), so 9 total (8 of them Huskies), and they all rotate in and out of this bed constantly, literally 24/7 at least one of the nine is almost always laying in it. The large size bed has been more than perfect for all nine dogs. The female (45 pounds) is smaller, so her and about two puppies (at 20 pounds) fit in it comfortably. However, my male is large (over 55 pounds) and he is definitely more comfortable in the bed by himself. This bed is the perfect bed for all dogs. But if your dog is anything like all of mine, active and destructive, and annihilates any bed you set before them, look no further, for in this bed, you have found your champion! ... show more

  • My Senior Dog Loves This Bed!
Size: 35.8"L x 26.8"W x 7.9"Th
My almost 15 year old Westie loves this bed! It's very roomy (I bought a large size because he is a pleadingly plump 38 lbs), and yet he can rest his head on the bolsters and watch TV, which he likes to do regularly. He also sometimes scratches the bottom of the bed, but it is holding up well. It's easy to assemble and machine washable. It's also an orthopedic bed so the mattress is memory foam, which is great for my dog because he has arthritis in his hip and back legs. I would highly recommend this bed. ... show more
